The Residency Program in the Professional Health Area in Veterinary Medicine is presented in the lato sensu postgraduate education modality, aimed at in-service training and aimed at veterinarians, with full-time regime, and duration months, equivalent to a minimum workload of 5,760 hours. This workload is distributed between theoretical and practical activities in the area of concentration / performance and public health. Due to the pandemic caused by the Coronavirus 2 severe acute respiratory syndrome virus (SARSCOV-2 / COVID-19), the veterinary hospital was closed nine approximately nine months. The area of activity / concentration of the aforementioned work was in Small Animal Surgical Clinic, and the activities were developed at HOVETat UFRPE in Recife, while activities in the public health area were developed in the municipality of Camaragibe. In order to complete this postgraduate course, it is necessaryto prepare a residency conclusion work (TCR) that is presented in an expository manner for the evaluation of a board. The objective of the TCR was to describe the activities developed, both in the area of surgical clinic and in the area of public health, in addition to reporting a case experienced during the residency period. The case was a 70-day-old Pitbull canine, attended at HOVET/UFRPE, presenting a symptomatic picture of regurgitation, diagnosed with esophageal dilatation cranial to the base of the heart, caused by an obstruction, characterizing PAAD. The surgical treatment instituted was ligation and section of the arch, as well as debridement of the surrounding fibrous tissue, to undothe constriction. We conclude that the completion of the postgraduate program in the residency program in the Professional Health Area in Veterinary Medicine, presented in the form of lato sensu teaching, in- service training, provides the veterinarian with training, experience and theoretical confidence and, mainly, practice in the area concentration in which the resident intends to act in his career.

Avulsion Fracture of the Tibial Tuberosity (FATT) is a relatively common condition in dogs, especially affecting young animals and large or giant breeds. It is characterized when a fragment of the tibial tuberosity detaches from the tibia, where the patellar ligament is inserted, due to the force exerted by the tendon as a result of a sudden or traumatic movement. Aseptic Necrosis of the Femoral Head (NACF) also affects young dogs, between 3 and 13 months old, mainly small breeds, such as Toys and Terriers, being defined as a debilitating condition characterized by aseptic, non-inflammatory, avascular and idiopathic condition of the femoral head, due to ischemia that can be triggered by several factors, including traumatic and hereditary. The present work aims to describe the post-surgical physiotherapeutic treatment of a dog, of the Jack Russell Terrier breed, with pain and lameness in the right pelvic limb due to FATT, which aggravated the predisposing NACF, which underwent osteosynthesis surgery and colocephalectomy later. The fracture correction was carried out on January 29, 2024 and physiotherapy began on March 5, 2024, due to complaints about the lack of weight bearing on the affected limb. At the beginning of the physiotherapeutic protocol, persistence of pain and lameness was noted, with NACF being diagnosed on March 22, 2024 and colocephalectomy performed on April 1, 2024, with a subsequent return to rehabilitation on April 9, 2024. The case was followed from the first session after colocephalectomy surgery, during the Mandatory Supervised Internship (ESO), at the Marlene Reis Rehabilitation Center, in Recife-PE.

The Compulsory Supervised Internship (ESO) is developed in the final period of the undergraduate Veterinary Medicine course at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE) and aims to bring students closer to practical activities of interest, combining experience with the theoretical content of the degree. The ESO was carried out at UFRPE's University Veterinary Hospital (HVU), in the area of Veterinary Surgical Clinic, from October 2, 2023 to January 19, 2024, with a total workload of 420 hours. The area chosen enabled me to learn about surgical techniques, preoperative assessments and care after surgery in small animals, adding to my knowledge of the broad field of Surgical Clinic. This report describes the activities carried out during the internship and the case report of a three-month-old female canine patient, who underwent surgery to section the ligamentum arteriosum and was diagnosed with Persistent Right Aortic Arch Disease (PAAD). PAAD is characterized by the position of the aorta to the right, causing the ligamentum arteriosum to cause extraluminal compression of structures such as the esophagus and trachea, thus resulting in a secondary megaesophagus, the presence of symptoms usually appears after weaning, with the introduction of solid food, there is postprandial regurgitation. From the clinical suspicion to the diagnosis, it is necessary to associate imaging tests. A contrast study of the esophagus helps with clinical confirmation, as well as other imaging tests. Corrective surgery is the most recommended treatment for persistence of the 4th right aortic arch.
