The Compulsory Supervised Internship (ESO) is the last course of the Veterinary Medicine degree programme at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE). Its main objective is to give students the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical environment. With a total workload of 420 hours, the ESO was carried out at the company Guaraves Guarabira Ayes Ltda, located in Guarabira, PB, between 1 April 2024 and 14 June 2024. The company operates in the industrial poultry sector and during the placement it was possible to experience different stages of the production chain, including the handling of heavy breeders, a hatchery for the production of day-old chicks, broiler farms (from chick reception to pre-slaughter), a slaughterhouse and a commercial laying hen fain The Brazilian poultry industry is known worldwide for its dynamism and technology, and the veterinarian is a key figure in all segments of this production chain. Based on this principle, it is of the utmost importance for maintaining production and quality indices that management is employed, including pecking in laying birds, especially considering the high density of housing, a factor that increases competition for food and aggressiveness, which can lead to loss of uniformity and cannibalism. The aim of this study is to evaluate and compare the weight, organ development and uniformity indices of two flocks pecked using the infrared radiation (III) beak trinmfing technique and "V" beak trimming technique.

Alternative practices were sought to the use of Antibiotics as Growth Promoters (APC), with the aim of contributing to public health and combating bacterial resistance. The methodology involved observing the daily routine of a poultry farm that produces eggs without the need for APCs. And the comprehensive literature was reviewed, which included the analysis of scientific publications in databases and specialized literature between the years 2013 and 2024. The results indicated the effectiveness and need for alternative methods to APCs for the sustainability of the sector and animal health and human, highlighting the importance of policies for the responsible use of antibiotics in poultry production.

The Mandatory Supervised Internship (MSI), the final course of the Veterinary Medicine undergraduate program at the Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE), aims primarily to provide practical experience of the theoretical knowledge acquired. The MSI in question took place from October 2nd, 2023, to December 22nd, 2023, with a total workload of 420 hours at Guaraves Guarabira Aves Ltda., a company in the industrial poultry sector, with the purpose of experiencing the stages of this production chain, which included the management of heavy matrices, hatchery for one-day-old chick production, broiler farms from chick reception to pre-slaughter, slaughterhouse, and commercial laying hen farms.. The Brazilian poultry industry stands out for its dynamism and high technological level, and veterinarians play an important role in all segments of this production chain. The MSI was carried out at Guaraves Guarabira Aves Ltda. with the aim of experiencing the stages of this production chain. The vaccination of commercial poultry is essential for the prevention of various infectious diseases that can reduce the productivity rates of these animals, as well as monitoring the humoral response to these vaccines. One example would be Gumboro Disease, which causes severe economic losses in industrial poultry farming. Thus, the present study aims to describe the activities developed in the MSI and to compare the results of serological tests between two vaccines (M-1 and M-2) against Gumboro Disease. It was concluded that the M-2 vaccine showed higher titers, but both vaccines were effective in promoting antibodies against the disease.
