Item Efeito da Olimpíada de Matemática das Escolas Públicas (OBMEP) e das redes de amizade em atividades acadêmicas nas escolas públicas do Recife(2021-07-23) Nascimento, Vitor Henrique Gomes do; Gomes, Sónia Maria Fonseca Pereira Oliveira; Raposo, Isabel Pessoa de Arruda; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2886384626788723; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9795791528582607; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2718733201822213The Brazilian Public School Math Olympics (Olimpíada Brasileira de Matemática das Escolas Públicas, or OBMEP) is a competition that has held yearly since 2005, with the goal of identifying talented students and to improve basic education. In this paper we use longitudinal data to evaluate the OBMEP’S impact on the amount of hours that students report to have dedicated to studying, how often they have been absent from class, and how often they answer their mathematics homework.We use a difference in differences approach combined with propensity score analysis, the results shows that proximity to a participant in OBMEP’s later phase causes a statistically significant increase on the amount of hours students dedicate to study and on how often they answer their homeworks, it also shows a decrease in how often students are absent from class.Item A temática perfume como contextualização no ensino médio de química(2018) Silva, Cleonilza Santos Rodrigues da; Silva, Suely Alves da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3497194749381919Perfumes are the object of many people's desire. It is not by chance that the perfume culture is very old and generates many profits. As soon as they appeared, perfumes were used to please the gods in offerings and tributes or in religious temples, but soon they began to serve mainly to the man, which made possible a series of advances in the artisan and small-scale techniques for the extraction of essential oils and the production of perfumes that, in turn, were gradually transposed to large industries, through all the technological advances that our society has witnessed throughout history. Through this theme, this work aims to address the various chemical concepts that it contemplates and, for this, were presented texts that can base chemistry classes for high school, in approaches accessible to students. In these texts, history and the creation of perfumes as a contextualizing theme were prioritized, through which it was intended to encourage interdisciplinarity by bringing together concepts from various areas, focusing on science and technology aimed at society. It was verified the great importance of the use of contextualization as an alternative to improve learning, since, as the contents of the students' daily life were approached, they provided greater motivation and interest, indispensable in the teaching and learning process.
