Item “Memórias de ferro”: o ensino baseado em projeto científico realizado com turmas do ensino médio, em escola privada de Camaragibe - PE (2024)(2024-12-19) Santos, Mateus de Souza; Barbosa, Lúcia Falcão; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5667594441132627This article aims to report and reflect on the development of the scientific project " Iron Memories: repression, torture and resilience of women during the military dictatorship in Pernambuco (1964-1985)", carried out with students from the 1st grade of High School, in a private school in Camaragibe-PE, in 2024. From this experience report, we intend to analyze the application of scientific projects in the teaching of History, aiming to work with historical contents through more active and critical approaches, as defended by Demo (2003) and Dewey (1916). This project integrated theory and practice, seeking to promote the engagement and intellectual autonomy of the students involved.Item Disputas, mistura e transformações identitárias: o processo de formação do lugar de Águas Belas e do Aldeamento dos Carnijó, em Pernambuco, entre as décadas de 1650 e 1760(2022-05-31) Santos Neto, José Cordeiro dos; Dantas, Mariana Albuquerque; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8568216121012333; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3864055213140532Between 1654, after the expulsion of the Dutch, and 1760, during the administration of the Marquis of Pombal (1750-1777), several processes were carried out within the captaincy of Pernambuco, which directly interfered in the organization and way of life of the indigenous people. The indigenous people who inhabited the region of the current municipality of Águas Belas, in the countryside of Pernambuco, went through processes of contact, re-elaboration of identities, formation of alliances and conflicts over land, appropriating the colonial mechanisms, according to the limitations imposed and their interests. In this way, this article has as main objective the analysis and interpretation of these relational processes and disputes over land, between the decades of 1650 and 1760, in the formation of the place of Águas Belas and the Carnijó village.Item Heróis indesejáveis: a Guerra do Paraguai e os Voluntários da Pátria nas narrativas da imprensa pernambucana(2024-10-02) Melo, Lucas Silva de Azevedo; Silva, Wellington Barbosa da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1213688229016782; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4255216451687080The Paraguayan War, due to its continental scale, required a military contingent beyond the National Guard and the official Brazilian Army. In this context, the “Volunteers of the Homeland” campaign was launched, aiming to enlist civilians. However, many individuals were hesitant to participate in a war on behalf of an Empire with which they did not identify. To encourage voluntary service, incentives were promised, and a sense of patriotic duty was cultivated. For this reason, the present work aims to map recent articles published between 2018 and 2023 on the recruitment of the Volunteers of the Homeland; to identify the strategies used for the recruitment of the Volunteers of the Homeland in Pernambuco; and to investigate how the recruitment of the Volunteers of the Homeland was covered by the newspapers of the time. To this end, we theoretically base our research on the concept of Social Control, discussed by Pedro Oliver Olmo (2005), and on the work "Tributo de Sangue" by Peter Beattie (2009), which analyzes forced recruitment during the war against Paraguay. Methodologically, we conducted a bibliographical research following the procedure of Lakatos and Marconi (2003), in the databases Periódicos CAPES, SciELO Brasil, and Google Scholar, in addition to the analysis of printed sources, as discussed by Tânia de Luca (2008), in the newspapers Diário de Pernambuco and Jornal do Recife, available in the Digital Library of the National Library. The main results of the research indicate that as new contingents of Volunteers were sent to the war, the honors and space dedicated in the newspapers to their participation in the war diminished.Item Teoria e prática: uma análise comparativa entre a legislação ultramarina e a realidade do contrabando de tabaco em Pernambuco no século XVIII(2024-10-01) Silva, Everton Giovanni Albuquerque da; Abril, Victor Hugo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7978574619584394; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4951193057750967Recently, the study of Portuguese America based on illegal activities has gained ground in brazilian historiography. However, despite the growing trend of historiography on illegal practices in Pernambuco during the colonial period, when it comes to tobacco smuggling, it is difficult to find works on the subject. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the smuggling of this commodity in the Captaincy of Pernambuco in order to understand how this historical phenomenon fits into the social and economic context of Portuguese America. To achieve this goal, a comparative method was used between existing legislation on tobacco trade and administration and official documents that deal with cases of smuggling and/or embezzlement, moving from a global to a regional scale to obtain new perspectives. It was observed that the creation of a rigid legal apparatus that aimed to maintain the commercial monopoly of tobacco was not enough and consequently, alternative ways of trading the commodity were propitiated: smuggling and embezzlement.Item Maracatu Nação de Pernambuco: pesquisas e perspectivas para a cultura popular de tradição nas Ciências Humanas(2024-10-03) Souza, Karen Adrielly Aguiar de; Silva, Lucas Victor; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0058476610695399; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5178419813945067This work presents the results of the bibliographical research on the cultural manifestation Maracatu Nação from Pernambuco, from 2013 to 2023. The Cultural Inventory of Maracatu Nação, organised by Isabel Guillen (2013), was the last work produced that surveyed the trajectory of maracatu as an object of research, in addition to grouping nine other works on the same topic. 14 productions were selected for this research, and 13 of these have been analysed according to the adopted methodology. The discussions were elaborated by observing the aspects of gender, territory, methods of research and the types of sources observed in the bibliographic survey. The results point to changes in the profile of researchers with the entry of individuals that are actually part of maracatu communities into the university. There is an increase in the number of productions coming from researchers that are both female and from Pernambuco. Our conclusions point to the need for greater control and rigour with regard to the ethical aspects of research into traditional popular culture. These aspects should be addressed in the training of researchers and in the regulation of national scientific activity.Item O Conselho Ultramarino Português e a comunicação da Capitania de Pernambuco com a Corte em tempos de guerra: 1644 - 1654(2024-02-28) Meireles, Douglas Rafael Kettner; Almeida, Suely Creusa Cordeiro de; Oliveira, Luanna Maria Ventura dos Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4568221860409469; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5060116886139677; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9827801024333288The present work aims to analyze the correspondence sent from the captaincy of Pernambuco to Portugal, between the years 1644 and 1654, as contained in the Overseas Historical Archive (OHA), accessed through the Baron of Rio Branco Rescue Project, coinciding with the final moments of what is known as “Dutch Brazil”. Although these documents were addressed to the Portuguese monarch, they entered the court through the desks of the Overseas Council: an organ created in 1642 that received the majority of demands from various places within the Portuguese overseas empire. By observing the global and local historical context of the production of these documents, namely the Iberian Union (1580-1640), the Eighty Years' War (1568-1648), and Dutch Brazil (1630-1654), as well as the formation and early years of the Portuguese Overseas Council, it is possible to better understand the correspondence in question, with its senders and subjects, within the context of war.Item A propaganda política getulista: um instrumento usado pelo interventor federal Agamenon Magalhães em Pernambuco 1937-1945(2023-04-26) Leite, Vanduí Alves; Silva, Marcília Gama da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0090863442089957This research aims to show the important role of political propaganda used in Pernambuco during the Estado Novo, by the federal intervenor Agamenon Magalhães. Specifically at the beginning of his mandate, between 1937 and 1940, a period that served to enhance and strengthen the image of the Federal government. Using the theoretical framework of Michel Foucault, with the perspective of power relations,The political, economic and social context of Brazil opens the discussion of the article, but it is the ideological and propagandistic issue of the Vargas government that is the main objective of this work. We also intend to show how the use of the press and propaganda were essential for Vargas' developmental project. In addition, we observe the use of repression and advertising resources at the time, whether state or private, to meet the interests of the current political project, with emphasis on printed newspapers, the archives of bodies such as the Department of Press and Propaganda (DIP) and the Department of Political and Social Order (DOPS).Item O trabalho feminino e os conflitos trabalhistas na Fábrica de Tecidos Othon Bezerra de Melo durante o Regime Militar(1967-1969)(2023-04-20) Silva, Kelly Anielle de Lima; Silva, Marcília Gama da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0090863442089957; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4344377744843392The analysis of the labor trajectory faced by workers in the textile sector is an object of deep interest, and it is necessary to highlight all the struggles and forms of resistance waged by these individuals in the search for a dignified life and better working conditions. On many occasions, the law of supply and demand imposes low wages on textile workers. This mainly affects women workers, who, due to lack of employment options, end up submitting themselves to the precarious conditions of the factory environment. Motivated by extreme need and seeking a better life, textile workers were subject to low wages and degrading conditions imposed by the employers. This was repeated in most of the labor claims of the period studied, above all, in the factories of the Othon Bezerra de Melo Group, and which also extended to other companies in the field. Although in the first decades of the 20th century the textile industry was experiencing great growth in Pernambuco, we observe that the treatment of weavers has not changed since the 1930s and 1940s. On the contrary, in the 1960s and 1970s, the number of complaints of mistreatment, repression and harassment inside textile factories. Having access to the collection of Collective Bargains of the textile industries, existing in the Memorial da Justiça do Trabalho and as a researcher of the PIC-UFRPE in 2019, we chose to work on the theme of the textile workers of the Fabric Factory of the Othon Bezerra de Melo group, in the period that goes from 1967 to 1969, even transposing this temporality to other times and spaces. With the objective of analyzing the strikes and demands of the factory workers and, above all, how they became targets of police repressionItem Retratos da greve de 1979: o Brasil, Pernambuco, a escola(2023-03-15) Pinto, Robério Siqueira; Silva, Marcília Gama da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0090863442089957; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9731911398084861This paper intends to shed light on the intense wave of social and political upheavals that marked the year 1979 in Brazil, more precisely, its second half, which makes it an unavoidable moment for the history work in the country. From the analysis of newspapers, cartoons, photographs and films, together with a bibliographic review on the subject, the text that follows is reinforced in three central axes: in the first one, an overview of the struggles experienced in the civil-military dictatorship of that year is proposed, seeking to demonstrate how the strike breakout of 1978, another landmark moment, left breath and instilled revolt in the most diverse parts of the national territory; in the second, the fan narrows down to better approach the Pernambuco scene, the interest in this clipping, in particular, is explained by the specificities that it carries, at the same time that it incites us to an interesting discussion about the historiographical generalization of events and concepts from the Rio-São Paulo axis; finally, the experience of the teachers' strike in the state of Pernambuco was chosen as the agency's focus, understood here as resistance the struggle for the opening of the authoritarian regime, which leads us to conclude that, far beyond the classroom, this it was an initiative of outstanding importance for the return of the democratic rule of law.Item A indústria têxtil em Pernambuco: apogeu e crise (Século XX)(2022-10-03) Melo, Carlos Mesquita Neiva de; Silva, Giselda Brito; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2327404253426354The present work aims to show how textile industrialization, in the state of Pernambuco, had its peak and crisis in the 20th century. To support the studied industrial context, we started the work showing how industrialization occurred in Brazil in the 19th and 20th centuries, with emphasis on the textile industry, its difficulties, its contradictions and its evolution until reaching the last century. The textile industry in the state of Pernambuco is also shown in detail, from when it was an incipient industry, to the moment when it became the largest textile industrial park in Brazil and then to its decline in the 20th century, when the entire industry textile in its entirety, that is, since the planting of cotton, spinning and weaving enter into a fatal crisis. We show that what seemed to no longer exist reappears little by little in the state, in the last link of this industrial segment: clothing. The emergence of the Agreste Clothing Pole, which came up with such a strange name, Sulanca, which has no meaning for the clothing industry in a small, off-the-beaten-path town and which is rapidly growing, spreads to other cities in the Agreste region. and becomes one of the great poles of the Northeast region and the country.
