The national sheep herd reached a total of 21,792,139 heads in 2023, with the state of Pernambuco accounting for 3,674,659 heads, a significant number of animals, many of which are annually culled. In sheep farming systems, ewes are essential tools for animal production, but they occasionally need to be culled, either due to age or health reasons that compromise their productive performance. When culled, these ewes' carcasses need to be utilized in some way, often being sold for consumption. However, meat from older or culled animals is undervalued due to its sensory characteristics and is often considered of low quality and low acceptability by consumers. Despite the low consumption of this species' protein, there is potential for a sheep meat market in Brazil. Research evaluating sheep meat quality typically focuses on studies investigating differences in sex, slaughter age, breed, diet, and production systems, with the vast majority being conducted on lambs. Meanwhile, studies on adult sheep, especially cull ewes, are almost nonexistent in the scientific literature. This study was conducted using 12 cull ewes of the Santa Inês breed, from the sheep herd of the Animal Science Department at UFRPE, with an average age of 33 months and an average weight of 56 ± 6.99 kg. The objective was to characterize the qualitative and quantitative aspects of cull ewe carcasses intended for meat production. It was observed that more research is needed to evaluate cull ewe carcasses in order to define carcass grading guidelines for this category, focusing on differentiating conformation and quality standards.

The analysis of morphometric characteristics such as area, perimeter, slope, altitude, drainage density, among others, are fundamental in the development of environmental studies. The physical and biotic characteristics of a given location play an important role in decisionmaking. In this sense, the development and improvement of techniques together with geotechnologies for morphometric characterization have been the subject of study in several parts of the world, and promote relevant results. In view of the above, the present study aimed to perform the morphometric characterization of the municipality of São João do Sabugi - RN, using data from the ALOS PALSAR Satellite, integrated and processed in a GIS environment. The spatial data obtained were subjected to pre-processing techniques, such as reprojection of its coordinate reference system to UTM (24s time zone) and of its geodetic system to SIRGAS 2000, as well as exclusion of its spurious pixels. These procedures allowed the obtaining of accurate morphometric parameters. The results showed that morphometric characterization, through the processing of Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data in a Geographic Information System (GIS) environment, offers significant advantages in terms of cost-benefit. The methodology applied proved to be adequate and easy to use. The slope of the municipality is predominantly undulating to strongly undulating. The conception of the results achieved in this study allows a consistent understanding of the morphometric behavior of the municipality of São João do Sabugi - RN, which can be used for adequate environmental planning.

The pterosaurs are a lineage of extinct archosaurs with morphological adaptations for flight. They originated in the late Triassic and became extinct at the Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary. The first description of a pterosaur species in the Araripe Basin was in the early 1970s, and to date more than 350 specimens have been found, of which about 30 species have been described. The presence of a new specimen represented by a partial pterosaur skull highlights the relevance of this study, as it is common for species to be based on incomplete and unique specimens. This study analyses, describes, and compares morphological and morphometric aspects of a specimen (MPSC R 1126) of a pterosaur borrowed from the Plácido Cidade Nuvens Paleontological Museum of the Regional University of Cariri. The material was described by identifying the preserved parts and these data were then used for comparison with other specimens of anhanguerid pterosaurs, in addition to comparison by qualitative morphometry. In addition, the two-dimensional geometric morphometric method was used to analyse variation in anhanguerid skulls, with 7 anatomical landmarks recorded in a lateral view of the material. The result was a skull composed of premaxilla and maxilla; an elongate premaxillary sagittal crest; about 15 alveoli on the right side, where two teeth are preserved in the posterior part of the skull, and the palate, which has a small sagittal keel. In the principal component analysis (PCA), the first three components show about 93.1% and after the component analysis, as in the morphological comparisons, the material showed greater morphological affinities with the specimens assigned to the species "Anhanguera araripensis", more specifically with the material belonging to the National Museum (MN 4735-V), therefore we assign this specimen (MPSC R 1126) to Anhanguera sp.

Known as boxfish, the members of the Acanthostracion quadricornis, Acanthostracion polygonius and Lactophrys trigonus species are all part of the order Tetraodontiforme, family Ostraciidae. They present as a striking feature a body enclosed in a bony box with hexagonal plates, which is one of the reasons they are so easily recognizable, leaving only their fins, eyes and mouth on the outside of the box. All three species are distributed across the Atlantic in tropical and temperate waters and from the USA to Bermuda, the Caribbean, and from the Antilles to Brazil, where their distribution is wide, as they are found in the waters of the North and Northeast coasts, where large populations of these species are found in Brazil. They are marine animals associated with coral reefs, being found in depths of up to 80 m. This thesis´ objectives are limited to knowing more about the morphometry (relatively little is known about it) as well as the length-length relationships of these species, in addition to knowing if there are significant differences between two genera of the same family and the effects of the environment on the body of these fishes. This work provides information about a possible influence of body shape on the distribution of these species in relation to the shelf environments of the northeast region of Brazil. Caught individuals of each species were used to generate linear models, generating length-length relationships (LLR). The data obtained and used does not show a significant relationship between the distribution of species, regarding depth, habitats nor for the shape of their bodies. Body shape varied according to species, meaning possibly existing another mechanism, one with greater influence than the analyzed agents, affecting the shape of the body.

The accelerated and disorderly growth of cities, followed by irregular land occupations, caused the replacement of urban vegetation by buildings and road structures, making it difficult for cities to plan properly and causing a series of problems, such as soil sealing, temperature increase loss of biodiversity and increased noise pollution. Urban afforestation comprises the afforestation of streets and public and private green areas. The parks are inseted in public green areas and are considered public spaces for leisure and recreation for the city's population, providing many benefits, such as psychological well-being, physical contact with nature and the practice of physical activity. Thus, the research aims to evaluate the afforestation of Parque do Atalaia in Escada-PE, with the aim of creating a database that will serve as a subsidy for the management of the urban forest. The study was carried out at Parque do Atalaia, which is located in the center of the city of Escada-PE. A census inventory of all species with CBH (circumference at breast height) ≥ 15 cm was carried out. The dendrometric data were measured: total height, crown diameter, CBH, DBH (diameter at breast height), crown area and basal area. From these data, the morphometric indices were calculated: Degree of Slenderness, Salience Index, and Coverage Index. Spatial indices of shading, tree cover and tree density index were determined. The Shannon-Wiener diversity indices, the Pielou evenness index and the Simpson diversity index were analyzed. As for the phytosociological parameters, absolute density, relative density, absolute dominance, relative dominance, absolute coverage value, relative coverage value, absolute importance value and relative importance value were determined. Regarding the qualitative aspects, the plant health of individual trees, the general condition, vandalism, stem morphology (tortuosity/inclination), evaluation of the first bifurcation, root system condition, pruning condition and conflicts were evaluated. The species Inga edulis, Handroanthus sp. and Senna siamea together make up 56.78% of the Park's tree cover, where only 36.84% of the species found were classified as native to the Brazilian flora. A worrying value was observed in the spatial indices, on the other hand, most arboreal individuals are in good physical and phytosanitary conditions. Conflicts between afforestation and the electricity network were not relevant and the greatest damages observed resulted from pruning and vandalism. Essentially, the adoption of measures to introduce other species was suggested, prioritizing native species, to promote diversity and balance the frequency of species that already exist in the Park, increasing thermal comfort and contributing to aesthetic and ecological improvement, thus avoiding the loss of municipal arboreal heritage.
