The case report chosen was a 11 month old male dog of undefined breed, with a history of hind limb paralysis and pain in all joints. She underwent several tests, including blood count, X-ray, ultrasound and parasitological bone marrow, where she was diagnosed with Leishmaniasis. The symptom of polyarthritis is a rare symptom and therefore difficult to diagnose. The animal has been treated for Leishmaniasis - specific medications, as well as being submitted to acupuncture sections. So far it has responded satisfactorily, however the animal still feels pain and it is still necessary sections of physiotherapy. Based on the above, it can be concluded that ESO's activities were extremely important to understand the operation of the hospital, to know its casuistry and to put into practice the knowledge acquired during the ESO.Item Doença do disco intervertebral em cães – classificação, diagnóstico e tratamento: relato de caso em cão da raça Dachshund(2019-12-12) Melo, Hilma Zulaide de; Teixeira, Marcelo Weinstein; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6499644970610610; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6302257521108471This paper aims to detail the characteristics of the different types of hernia, the diagnosis and treatment currently used. Throughout the work, a literature review was performed on the anatomy of the spine and spinal cord, as well as the pathophysiology of intervertebral disc herniation. Considered a routine procedure in veterinary clinics, treatments for this type of disease can follow two lines of treatment, conservative and surgical. With the advancement of studies in the field of alternative medicine, it has been noted the benefits that acupuncture has shown in the treatment of intervertebral disorders. A case study was then conducted in which topics were provided that provide information and illustrate the daily life of the veterinarian.
