“Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório” (ESO) — “Mandatory Supervised Internship” — is the course for the of the final semester of the undergraduate Veterinary Medicine program at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFRPE), with a total workload of 420 hours. Its objective is to allow the student to apply the knowledge acquired throughout the course. The internship happened at the Department of Veterinary Medicine (DMV) of UFRPE, specifically in the sector of veterinary surgical clinic for small animals at the University Veterinary Hospital (HVU) from the 2nd of October to December 22nd of 2023. The first chapter describes the activities carried out during the ESO; the second chapter presents a case study of a treatment offered to a canine patient that underwent an exploratory celiotomy to remove metastatic neoplasms from the abdominal wall and urinary bladder.
