These changes are confirmed in animals undergoing imaging tests such as x-rays and ultrasonography. Accompanying generally elderly dogs, medium or large, without predisposition of race and sex. Splenopathies are common diseases in this species, and may be associated with benign diseases, with an excellent prognosis, as well as diseases with a high degree of malignancy and a high mortality rate. Splenectomy is, in some cases, the measure adopted as therapeutic conduct. The objective of this work was to report the care of a 13-year-old female Poodle, who was admitted to the Arionaldo de Sá Veterinary Clinic for clinical consultation. Additional tests, such as ultrasonography, blood count and serum biochemistry, chest radiography and electrocardiogram were requested, in order to obtain the diagnosis and assess the general condition of the patient. Complementary exams revealed the presence of a rounded structure in the spleen, with high vascularity at the Doppler, but with no pulmonary metastasis. Based on the complementary tests, the animal was referred for splenectomy. After removal of the organ, it was sent in 10% formalin for histopathological examination for neoplasia analysis and graduation of possible malignancy.
