Item Visitantes florais da jurubeba (Solanum paniculatum), no Setor de Meliponicultura, do Departamento de Zootecnia da UFRPE (Campus Dois Irmãos)(2025-02-24) Santos, Andreilson José dos; Souza, Darclet Teresinha Malerbo de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3266223126925865A jurubeba (Solanum paniculatum) é uma planta medicinal indicada para o tratamento de diferentes tipos de doenças. Ela é um arbusto nativo das regiões Norte e Nordeste do Brasil, possui folhas de sabor amargo e frutos amarelo-esverdeados, que também podem ser incluídos na alimentação. O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar os visitantes florais da jurubeba, tipo de coleta (pólen, néctar e/ou resina) e a frequência dessas visitações. O experimento foi realizado no Setor de Meliponicultura do Departamento de Zootecnia, na Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco, em Recife, PE. As observações foram realizadas das 6h às 16h, nos 10 minutos iniciais de cada horário, com três repetições, em três dias distintos, em janeiro de 2024. Foi observada a presença de várias espécies de abelhas, coletando pólen nas flores da jurubeba, entre elas: Augochloropsis sp. (53,7%), Bombus atratus (31,5%) e Melipona scutellaris (3,7%). Outros insetos como dípteros (11,1%) também foram observados nas flores. As abelhas Augochloropsis sp., da família Halictidae, aumentaram sua frequência até 11h, diminuindo após esse horário. As abelhas B. atratus visitaram as flores da jurubeba durante todo o dia, com pico de frequência entre 6h e 7h. As abelhas M. scutellaris visitaram as flores da jurubeba apenas entre 7h e 8h. Os dípteros foram observados apenas entre 9h e 12h. Concluiu-se que a jurubeba é uma planta que fornece pólen para diversas espécies de abelhas, sendo importante para a manutenção da biodiversidade dos polinizadores.Item Utilização de técnicas de condicionamento operante por reforço positivo como estratégia para socialização de aves(2023-09-04) Costa, Hylana Victória Veiga da; Oliveira, Maria Adélia Borstelmann deIt is important to develop and use welfare and socialization tools, as by facilitating the adaptive processes of the birds, we make their quality of life much better. In view of this, the present research was carried out at the Zoo of the Dois Irmãos State Park (PEDI), with four species of birds: three housed in quarantine enclosures (internment) and one in an exhibition enclosure; one of which, the Canindé Macaw, served as a comparative standard for the others, as it was already socialized. The studied animals were called: reference animal, represented by an Ara Ararauna (Canindé Macaw); animal 1, represented by a specimen of Ara mação (Arara canga); animal 2, represented by a specimen of Deroptyus accipitrinus (Anacá); and animal 3, represented by a specimen of Ramphastos toco (Toucano toco), belonging to the PEDI zoo, originating from donations or apprehensions. The training period lasted four months for the toucan toco, the most “antisocial” individual in the project, and three months for the other specimens, between October 2019 and January 2020. A technical sheet was used for each bird throughout the experiment, whose data were statistically analyzed using the R software, version 4.0.1. Six behavioral variables were evaluated, five of them displayed by the birds and one elicited by people from the research team - the variable (e) “Timeout” (reinforcement extinction act). This set included both positive actions (such as: responding immediately and eating in the hand/glove) and negative (such as: pecking and not having a response). The analyzes were carried out in order to monitor the evolution of the birds during the training and to evaluate, at the end of the research, their level of socialization. The duration of training was also analyzed by running data on “response time”, when the bird started to respond, and “stopping time”, when the animal stopped responding. With this, we conclude that, at the end of the experiment, the birds were socialized, as the positive action immediate response reached 75 to 100% recurrence and the negative reaction consisting of pecking was between 0 to 10% with three birds, with the exception of the Toco toucan, whose negative variables have increased in the last month, due to his absence for ophthalmological treatment. We noticed that the average training time reached seven minutes and that the birds under study began to respond normally well and without negative reactions. Comparisons with the already socialized reference bird adequately served as an indication of sociability.Item Impactos da pandemia da COVID-19 sobre o manejo e comportamento dos animais de companhia do Recife e região metropolitana(2022-10-05) Martins, Giovanna Coely Viana; Lima, Tayara Soares de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3100045021780173; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6702307385033047The social isolation adopted in 2020 as a protective measure against the pandemic in the prevention of covid-19 has repeatedly changed the routine of people and animals. When passing with the quirky pets, the specific owners can observe their pets and can work with the quirky pets that are specific to their pets. Therefore, the research presents the impacts caused by social isolation or the profile of the social isolation company on the management of Recife and the animals in the metropolitan region, considering the individual of each animal in the relationship with its guardian. One was prepared, consisting of 3 questions, divided into three sections, with essay and objective questions, conveyed through social media. The results obtained were tabulated and analyzed according to the frequency of responses, using descriptive statistics. It was found that, regarding food, in general, tutors report that there are no major changes in the volume or type of supply provided to the animals. the relationship of attitudes associated with stress, and social isolation during the relationship they adopt the relationship with the relationship during social isolation, the commitment they adopt privacy during social isolation. However, the use of animals in the field of science is nothing new, because in order to promote the development of medicine, the technique of vivisection and dissection has been used as a comparison to human physiology since ancient times. Thus, rats (Rattus norvegicus) became good study models due to their short life cycle and docility. In the literature, the Hairless lineage counts as an animal with little maternal care, as it is described as an animal that produces less milk. In addition to the lack of fur, it ends up not warming the puppies as they should. However, in the vivarium of the Dois Irmãos State Park (PEDI) it was empirically noted that the rats, in addition to being more productive, also always weaned the entire litter in a healthy way. Therefore, the present work aimed to prove, through statistical analysis, whether this fact was true or not. A total of 78 rats were used, 60 of which had normal fur and 18 had the Hairless gene mutation. The animals were distributed in 26 polypropylene boxes that contained two females and one male. These were divided into three experimental groups, group 01 being at least a normal female and a normal male; group 02 two hairless females; group 03 normal females and the male Hairless. Data were obtained on the number of animals born, weaned, deaths, transferred, number of births and number of offspring per birth. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Analysis System Software (SAS®, version 9.3; SAS® Institute Inc., Cary, NC, USA). Tables 01 and 02 show that the results did not differ. With this, it can be seen that the Hairless rats of the PEDI are as productive as the non-mutant rats. However, several factors may have influenced the results, such as climate, luminosity and genetic interaction. Therefore, further studies are recommended to be carried out on site.Item Perfil alimentar e comportamental de gatos (Felis silvestris catus) domiciliados em Recife e Região Metropolitana(2022-10-04) Arruda, Nataly de Almeida; Lima, Tayara Soares de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3100045021780173; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9817576203092548Cats play a very important role in human life. In Brazil, the feline population has stood out for its growth in comparison to other species. Often, professionals and guardians are unaware of the true nature of the cat, so nutritional and behavioral analysis is the initial measure for the detection of various types of problems of different origins in domestic cats and serves as the main source of evidence for the evaluation of animal welfare. This study aimed to evaluate the dietary and behavioral profile of cats living in Recife and metropolitan region. A questionnaire containing 38 questions was designed and applied to cat guardians in Recife and metropolitan region, in the state of Pernambuco, addressing points about feeding, behavior and welfare of these animals. The results obtained were tabulated and analyzed according to the frequency of responses, through descriptive statistics with the use of Microsoft Excel 2019 and Google Forms 2018 programs. The research on the food profile of domestic cats domiciled in Recife and metropolitan region showed that most of them are cats that feed themselves with food, and that the guardians are concerned about providing a ration according to the physiological conditions of the cat. Regarding the behavioral profile, many cats showed calm, docile, indifferent, scared and agitated behavior when dealing with strangers, and when interacting with other animals, their behavior mostly defined between: Agitated, frightened and aggressive. Some points need attention, a portion of the animals evaluated have free access to the street, have food available at will, do not receive food ideal for their nutrition and, as observed in the results, most are not with the ideal body score index, according to the perspective of their guardians. All these are detrimental factors to the animal, which can develop eating and behavioral disorders.Item Atividade de voo da abelha moça branca (Frieseomelitta doederleini) no período de inverno na cidade de Recife - PE(2022-09-26) Côrte Real, Mirela Lima; Souza, Darclet Teresinha Malerbo de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3266223126925865Bees have been gaining a great prominence in recent years, because people are increasingly looking for organic and sustainable products. Beekeeping, both stinging bees and melipona bees, fit these standards, and show themselves as an alternative breeding and source of income, especially for small producers. This work aims to verify the flight and collection activities of the white lady bee (Frieseomelitta doederleini.) in August and September, in the city of Recife, Pernambuco, metropolitan region. The present study was carried out from August 2022 to September 2022 in the meliponary of the Apiculture and Meliponiculture Sector, Department of Animal Science of the Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco, located in the neighborhood of Dois Irmãos, in Recife - PE. The boxes chosen for observation were randomly selected and observations were performed three days a month. The observations were made in the period from 09:00 am to 4:00 pm, for one minute each hour. In the observations, the number of bees that entered the colony carrying pollen and the number of bees that entered with no apparent cargo were counted, being counted as nectar or water. Temperature and relative humidity data were also recorded with a digital thermohygrometer installed in the meliponary. The movement of the bees was greater in the morning, a pattern that was repeated in all months. The tendency was greater collection of nectar and water, when compared to pollen collection. Thus, it was concluded that the bees (Frieseomelitta doederleini) prefer to collect both nectar and pollen in the morning, decreasing their frequency during the day in the months studied.Item Importância das flores do Miguê (Antigonon leptopus) para a manutenção das abelhas nativas(2021-06-30) Barbosa, Lizandra do Nascimento; Souza, Darclet Teresinha Malerbo de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3266223126925865; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7631293942576365The present work aimed to analyze and register the possible floral visitors of Chain of Love vine (Antigonon leptopus) in their flowering period between September to November 2019. The blooms of the species of A. leptopus located in the vicinity of the meliponiculture sector of the Rural Federal University of Pernambuco, UFRPE, for three non-consecutive days from 7 am to 17: 10 pm. Possible visitors and the type of collection made by them were recorded in the first ten minutes of each time in the period observed. It was found that Trigona spinipes and Apis mellifera, were the main bees to make visits to collect nectar and pollen. The melipona Boca de sapo (Partamona helleri), Iraí (Nannotrigona testaceicones), Tubi (Scaptotrigona tubiba) and Uruçu (Melipona scutelaris) respectively, were also observed performing collection activities during the early periods of the day. The climatic condition significantly impacts the foraging activities of bees, sunny or cloudy days with mild temperatures, result in an increase in collection activities. T. spinipes can exhibit dominance, territorial and aggressive behavior with other species, depending on the availability of food. A. leptopus has a good diversity of floral visitors, and its use is indicated for the feeding and foraging of honeybee species.Item Atividade de voo da abelha mosquito (Plebeia sp.) em meliponario urbano, na cidade de Recife - PE(2021-11) Farias, Lucas Rodrigues de; Souza, Darclet Teresinha Malerbo de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3266223126925865; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3842757406890382The search for products of organic and sustainable origin has been growing over the years, and the raising of bees with both sting, beekeeping, as well as stingless, meliponic growers fit these standards, and shows itself as an alternative for breeding and a source of income , mainly to small producers. This work aims to verify the flight and collection activities of the Mosquito bee (Plebeia sp.) in different months of the year, in the city of Recife, Pernambuco, a region in the forest zone. The present study was carried out from September 2021 to November 2021, in the meliponary of the Beekeeping and Meliponic Growing Sector, Department of Animal Science of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, located in the neighborhood of Dois Irmãos, in Recife – PE. The boxes chosen for observation were randomly selected and observations were carried out three days a month. Observations were made from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, for ten minutes every hour. In the observations, the number of bees that entered the colony carrying pollen and the number of bees that entered without apparent load were counted, being counted as nectar or water. Temperature and relative humidity data were also recorded, with a digital thermohygrometer installed in the meliponary. All data were statistically analyzed using the ASSISTAT program. To compare means, when necessary, the Tukey test was used at a 1% probability level. To analyze the frequency of insect visitation to flowers during the day, regression analysis by orthogonal polynomials was used, thus obtaining adequate equations for the observed patterns, under the conditions of the experiment. The temperature and humidity data were as expected for each month of the year in a place with a humid tropical climate, typical of the northeastern coast. The movement of bees was greater in the morning. The trend was towards greater nectar/water collection when compared to pollen collection. Thus, it is concluded that Plebeia sp. stingless bees prefer to collect both nectar and pollen in the morning, decreasing their frequency during the day, in studied months of the year.Item Condicionamento operante como ferramenta de promoção de bem estar de animais em cativeiro(2022-05-31) Costa, Nathaly Rayana Nunes da; Porto Neto, Fernando de Figueiredo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1475750525654086; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0612169779839408The learning process is long, but necessary, whether in humans or animals. In this case, operant conditioning brings the possibility of handling with greater well-being, greater comfort for animals and handlers. As a form of enrichment, conditioning is still not widespread and used in zoos.It should be seen as an alternative to reduce stress and interventions that can be performed without the need for animal sedation, such as a simple examination to detect possible skin injuries, for example.The animal conditioning process must be done in stages, knowing and identifying the natural behaviors of individuals and respecting them. Determining goals and commands to be used, which must be useful, functional and that serve for various types of interventions.The handlers must be together with the trainers, so that there is a science of the commands, the way they must be performed, use or not of tools that can assist in these commands, such as clicker or target.With the insertion of the command, the learning and the fixation of it, the tool shows how animal welfare and respect for the five freedoms guarantees a comfortable and long life in captivity for animals.Item Atividade de voo da abelha jataí (Tetragonisca angustula) durante o ano, no Setor de Meliponiciltura da UFRPE no Recife, PE(2021-02-26) Vieira, Willames Macário; Souza, Darclet Teresinha Malerbo de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3266223126925865Flight activity of stingless bees Tetragonisca angustula in the year. The objective of this experiment was to study the foraging behavior of Stingless bees Tetragonisca angustula throughout the year. The collections of material were made in the experimental area of Meliponicultura Sector, Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco, in Recife, PE. Once a month, for twelve months, an assessment was made of the flight activity of stingless bees, by recording the number of bees entering the nest carrying pollen and nectar, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 10 minutes each time. Significant differences between samples of twelve months (one year) of collection, both for collecting nectar/water as for pollen. To collect nectar, the month that stood out was March 2019, summer (bordering the fall), and least stood out was in July 2018 (winter). The collections most abundant nectar temperatures were between 25.0 and 35.3°C, and relative humidity were between 27.1 and 64.9%. For pollen, ideal temperatures were between 23.7 and 34.4°C. Stingless bee T. angustula was very sensitive to temperature and the onset of external 10 activity to collect nectar occurred with a minimum temperature of 17.8 ° C, and, to pollen, the temperature was even higher, 19.6°C. The relative humidity was not a limiting factor for the foraging behavior of the species. This bee, on average, collected for nectar/water 86.3% and 13.7% by pollen.
