The objective of this study was to evaluate the impacts of the coronavirus and the influence of the lockdown associated with rainfall on the water quality of the Capibaribe and Tejipió rivers, Recife, Northeast Brazil, using cloud remote sensing on the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform. The study was carried out based on eight representative images from Sentinel-2. Among the selected images, two refer to the year 2019 (before the pandemic), three refer to 2020 (during a pandemic), two from the lockdown period (2020), and one for the year 2021. The land use and land cover (LULC) and slope of the study region were determined and classified. Water turbidity data were subjected to descriptive and multivariate statistics. When analyzing the data on LULC for the riparian margin of the Capibaribe and Tejipió rivers, a low permanent preservation area was found, with a predominance of almost 100% of the urban area to which the deposition of soil particles in rivers are minimal. The results indicated that turbidity values in the water bodies varied from 6 mg. L− 1 up to 40 mg. L− 1. Overall, the reduction in human based activities generated by the lockdown enabled improvements in water quality of these urban rivers.Item Avaliação de parâmetros de produção na Estação de Piscicultura Continental Johei Koike, UFRPE(2023-09-13) Silva, Karla Tamires Costa da; Porto Neto, Fernando de Figueiredo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1475750525654086; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7979379154298688An aquatic environment for rational fish farming has its own complex ecology, where the dynamics of biological and physical-chemical processes determine water quality conditions. Planktonic communities represent a sensitive tool to monitor environmental variations, as indicators of water quality, levels of pollution and eutrophication, as well as important food sources for the trophic chain. The present work aims to evaluate the quality of water and plankton composition, as a management tool in fish farming at the Continental Pisciculture Station Johei Koike, UFRPE. The total volume of the ponds and the flow rate of the supply channel were calculated, and water was collected for five consecutive weeks in nine active fish ponds at the station, located on the main campus of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE). In each pond a surface horizontal trawl was carried out with a plankton net (mesh opening of 64 μm). Plankton samples were preserved in 70% alcohol and analyzed at the Zooplankton Laboratory of the Department of Oceanography at UFPE. The identification took place at the taxonomic level of large groups. For the nine ponds the water transparency was always less than 25 cm, and in general the temperature was always between 28 and 29°C. Thus, a low variety of plankton species was observed in the ponds. Phytoplankton populations did not show large variations. In the nine ponds, the phylum Chlorophyta was the group of algae with the highest number of cells. As for zooplankton it varied between the nurseries according to the type of fish cultivated and the trophic conditions. The phylum Rotifera was in greater numbers in the nurseries. However, total phytoplankton and zooplankton densities point to three different pond groups, where pond size and type as well as uses and management seem to significantly affect populations of these organisms.Item Coleta de amostras de água de abastecimento e sua importância no controle de qualidade para os produtos de origem animal(2022-10-06) Queiroz, Roberta Vieira de; Rolim, Maria Betânia de Queiroz; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5676854885081836The Mandatory Supervised Internship (ESO) is a required element for the Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE). It consists in a 420 hours internship in a specific field of veterinary medicine. It allows the student to perform their role in a supervised environment, as a final step in to become a veterinarian. This report aims to demonstrate the main activities developed by the student Roberta Vieira de Queiroz at the Pernambuco Agricultural Defense and Inspection Agency (ADAGRO), under the guidance of Professor Dr. Maria Betânia de Queiroz Rolim, supervision of the State Agricultural Inspector Dr. Glenda Mônica Luna de Holanda and Co-Supervision of Dr. Flávio de Oliveira Silva. This document also aims to describe procedures and methods applied during inspection actions performed by ADAGRO. The monitoring of water supplies will be emphasized due to its importance in food preparation and direct consumption by the population. The ESO took place from July 4, 2022 to September 15, 2022 at ADAGRO, an institution responsible for promoting agricultural defense, inspection and inspection. ADAGRO is an important institution in the inspection and regulation of establishments that produce, process, classify, store, transport or sell agricultural products. The internship allowed monitoring actions of Pernambuco’s inspection service in monitoring, inspecting, initial registration, registration renewing, collection of samples in addition to analysis of sketches of the establishments. Thus, with this practical experience, it was possible to verify and understand the importance of the veterinarian in food industry, either from the perspective of a state agricultural inspector or with the attributions of the Technical Responsible (RT), in order to ensure that safe and high quality animal products are made available to consumers.Item Indicadores higiênico-sanitários identificados em águas envasadas, comercializadas na Região Metropolitana de Recife (PE)(2021-12-07) Santana, Shirlayne Ferreira de; Pires, Edleide Maria Freitas; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0468713660747009; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2120632629049039For the past years, the rising consume og bottled water in Brazil is a fact that is being studied by researchers of different parts of the country. The possible reasons for the case is the fact that bottled water transmits protection to the health, studies confirm different contamination levels in this kind of water. To ensure the health of consumers, it is required a quality standard for the commercialization of this product. An example of this, ministries as the Health Minister (MS) and the National agency of Health sanitization (ANVISA) establish microbiological parameters for the bottled natural mineral water destined to human consumption. For many reasons, it is considered important the information regarding hygienic sanitary indexes presented in the bottled water. This research has the purpose to evaluate the microbiological quality of the bottled water commercialized in the Region of the great Recife (RMR) by means of microbiological analysis of the hygienic sanitary indexes. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Coliforms. There were evaluated 9 different brands of bottled water in 20L package, coded as A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and I. From each brand there collected 5 samples in the period between August of 2018 and June of 2019, totaling 45 samples. For the microorganisms detection, there were used validated methods by the American Public Health Association (APHA), by the American Waters Works Association (AWWA) and by the Water Environment Federation (WEF). The obtained results confirmed the presence of Pseudomonas in 64% of the samples and of Coliforms in 66% of the samples, what may led to conclude the Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Coliforms can occur in natural mineral water bottled in 20L package commercialized in the RMR; an expressive number of brands showed to be unsafe due to the presence of microorganisms indicators of the hygienic sanitary conditions; the contamination levels by the Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Coliforms, vary among different brands of bottled water and beside what was found, we can find in the RMR market, mineral water brands that are considered safe, regarding the microbiological aspects. Such results are considered concerning, since the search for bottled water is, mainly, for the apparently guaranteed safety.
