Aquaculture in 2018 produced 82.1 million tons of aquatic animals, with fish being the leader in production systems. This production is constantly increasing in the world, especially in developing countries, which guarantees income and nutritional security. Due to social and economic importance, researchers and producers aim to improve and apply several technologies to enhance production. One of them is the monosex of fish, which can be reached in a genotypic and phenotypic way. To protect these technologies and guarantee the exclusivity of commercial exploitation, patent documents are issued and are available in national and international databases, where it is possible to carry out searches and learn about the state of the art of technologies of interest. Thus, the objective of this work was to carry out the technological monitoring of products and processes aimed at sex reversal and obtaining monosex of fish. For this, a search was carried out, through technological monitoring, in the main national and international databases, such as INPI, Espacenet, LATIPAT, and Patent scope. The search was performed using keywords in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Then, an analysis and filter of the documents were carried out with the inclusion and exclusion criteria adopted. With the patents obtained, they were placed in a table and followed for the analysis of the evaluation criteria. Thus, it could be seen that China, responsible for about 35% of the world's fish production, held 67.9% of the patents found; The temporal evolution took place from 1992 onwards, growing in the 2nd decade of the century. XXI; International technology groups by international patent classification were largely in the areas of human necessities and chemistry (sections A and C); The main applicants were distributed among research institutes and companies showing their profile of great economic production of these patents; The fish families targeted for the various techniques of reversal or obtaining less sex of fish were found, which were 51.3% for endocrine manipulation and the remainder divided for gametic and genomic manipulation. This work allowed us to verify that China continues to be the largest producer of intellectual property in fish farming under its large production rate and that these protections were largely developed at the beginning of the 21st century. 10 techniques for monosex are protected, and more than half of the patents contain, at some stage of the process, the use of endocrine manipulators to obtain the desired result. It is still seen that monitoring was viable to elucidate the roles and technological development of sexual manipulation in fish farming as well as to address new industrial paths for the field.Item Avaliação de plano de negócio em piscicultura de tanques-rede: uma abordagem estratégica(2023-09-15) Santos, Filipe Luiz Perman dos; Ponzi Junior, Manlio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1423075666160782; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0502000941144606The activity of fish farming in cage systems has become a widely recognized practice within the scope of Brazilian aquaculture, standing out mainly for its low production cost and simplicity compared to other methods. Specifically in the Northeast, fish farming activities in this modality are mainly concentrated in riverbeds and notably in vast water reservoirs, such as the dammed areas of the São Francisco River. However, it's relevant to note that many small-scale farmers who transitioned to fish farming maintain commercial behaviors similar to their original practices. These producers, for the most part, operate informally, are unorganized, and often lack basic knowledge about business structure, whether individual or collective. Consequently, they primarily function as raw material suppliers for middlemen or large corporations, often without a clear understanding of the actual cost of their production. This study suggests that, through targeted assistance, even the most traditional producers can have access to business indicators. It is recommended that under effective leadership or through the professional management of a cooperative, such producers can position themselves more competitively in the market. The idea is that they shouldn't limit themselves to fish production, but also develop products with added value and have insight into the best distribution strategies for consumers. This research emphasizes the importance of managerial and strategic considerations, materialized through comprehensive indicators and analyses, which have the potential to elevate such ventures to higher levels. Furthermore, the training and organization of these small producers can generate significant socioeconomic impacts in a locality. Enhancing the added value in their products boosts income generation, promotes community empowerment, and stimulates local development. Economic growth, combined with proper training, can result in improvements in quality of life, education, and infrastructure, positively transforming the socioeconomic landscape of the region.Item Avaliação de parâmetros de produção na Estação de Piscicultura Continental Johei Koike, UFRPE(2023-09-13) Silva, Karla Tamires Costa da; Porto Neto, Fernando de Figueiredo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1475750525654086; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7979379154298688An aquatic environment for rational fish farming has its own complex ecology, where the dynamics of biological and physical-chemical processes determine water quality conditions. Planktonic communities represent a sensitive tool to monitor environmental variations, as indicators of water quality, levels of pollution and eutrophication, as well as important food sources for the trophic chain. The present work aims to evaluate the quality of water and plankton composition, as a management tool in fish farming at the Continental Pisciculture Station Johei Koike, UFRPE. The total volume of the ponds and the flow rate of the supply channel were calculated, and water was collected for five consecutive weeks in nine active fish ponds at the station, located on the main campus of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE). In each pond a surface horizontal trawl was carried out with a plankton net (mesh opening of 64 μm). Plankton samples were preserved in 70% alcohol and analyzed at the Zooplankton Laboratory of the Department of Oceanography at UFPE. The identification took place at the taxonomic level of large groups. For the nine ponds the water transparency was always less than 25 cm, and in general the temperature was always between 28 and 29°C. Thus, a low variety of plankton species was observed in the ponds. Phytoplankton populations did not show large variations. In the nine ponds, the phylum Chlorophyta was the group of algae with the highest number of cells. As for zooplankton it varied between the nurseries according to the type of fish cultivated and the trophic conditions. The phylum Rotifera was in greater numbers in the nurseries. However, total phytoplankton and zooplankton densities point to three different pond groups, where pond size and type as well as uses and management seem to significantly affect populations of these organisms.
