The internship was initially carried out at the Pernambuco Equine Center, located in the city of Gravatá - PE, and later at the Clinical Pathology Laboratory of the Bixo's Veterinary Clinic, in the city of Jaboatão dos Guararapes - PE, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Gustavo Ferrer Carneiro, during the period from November 1, 2024 to January 21, 2025.During the internship, carried out at the Pernambuco Equine Center, it was possible to actively participate in the laboratory routine, monitoring and assisting in the performance of tests for the diagnosis of Equine Infectious Anemia and Equine Glanders. In addition, at the Clinical Pathology Laboratory, I had the opportunity to participate in several laboratory analyses, including hematological and biochemical tests, urinalysis, parasitological fecal examinations, immunochromatographic tests and dermatological cytology. In addition, I collaborated in the preparation of the respective reports at the end of the analyses, contributing to the interpretation of the results. This report also includes the presentation of an article that addresses platelet activation of platelet-rich plasma obtained and subjected to cryopreservation and lyophilization. The study was carried out at the Andrology Laboratory (ANDROLAB) of the Department of Veterinary Medicine at UFRPE, and was partially developed in collaboration with the Clinical Pathology Laboratory of Clínica Bixo’s.Item Osteossíntese de ulna em potra – Relato de caso(2023-04-27) Oliveira, Maria Gerlane de; Valença, Sandra Regina Fonseca de Araújo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8405192058078531; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3543760457121819Item Anestesia geral multimodal para celiotomia exploratória em equino (Equus ferus caballus) acometido por síndrome do abdomen agudo – Relato de caso(2024-09-05) Bailo, Vivian de Souza; Batista, André Mariano; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5615914349535394; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4089579627319222The Mandatory Supervised Internship (referred as ESO in portuguese) in Veterinary Medicine was conducted in the fields of Veterinary Anesthesiology and Equine Clinic and Surgery from April 1 to 30, 2024, at the FZEA/USP-Pirassununga Veterinary Hospital, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Adriano Bonfim Carregaro; from May 1 to 31, 2024, at the Clínica Veterinária Guadalupe, under the supervision of M.V. Guilherme Alberto Machado; and from June 1 to 30, 2024, at the FMVZ/UNESP-Botucatu Veterinary Hospital, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Antônio José de Araújo Aguiar. The activities were coordinated by Prof. Dr. André Mariano Batista and totaled 424 hours. This internship provided exposure to the anesthetic routines at USP and UNESP hospitals and the general routine at Clínica Guadalupe. The work aimed to report a case of multimodal general anesthesia for exploratory celiotomy in an equine patient with acute abdomen syndrome. The procedure was performed on a 6-year-old female horse with a history of severe abdominal pain unresponsive to clinical treatment. The acute abdomen syndrome was caused by a fecalith in the descending colon, which was removed during the emergency surgery. Anesthesia was induced with ketamine (2.2 mg/kg) and midazolam (0.1 mg/kg), maintained with isoflurane (2% vol.) in 100% oxygen with mechanical ventilation, and a continuous infusion of lidocaine at 3 mg/kg/h. Due to severe hypotension recorded by the multiparameter monitor, dobutamine, norepinephrine, and hypertonic solution were used to correct this alteration, and fluid therapy with Ringer Lactate and NaCl 0.9% was combined to maintain blood volume. Blood gas analisys monitoring was crucial for assessing the patient's ventilatory function and the need for calcium, potassium, and sodium bicarbonate replacement. With the stabilization maneuvers performed, the patient remained stable throughout the procedure. Post-surgery, the animal experienced a prolonged and poor-quality anesthetic recovery, likely due to systemic changes related to the clinical condition. Thus, equine anesthesia in cases of colic is challenging and requires the anesthetist to have extensive knowledge and practice in physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology to achieve satisfactory results.Item Comparação entre quatro protocolos de preparação do plasma rico em plaquetas na espécie equina(2024-02-02) Xavier, Gabriela Reis; Carneiro, Gustavo Ferrer; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0903050581306709; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3490771668260807The presente work aims to describe the activities carried out during the compulsory supervised internship, a compulsory subject for completion of the Veterinary Medicine course at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. However, few studies about this balancing are verified, and even fewer are related to the specific conditions of the country. The conditions that involve the digestive system, such as colic, diarrhea and enterotoxemia, represent 50% of the medical problems that result in the death of adult horses, among the conditions that affect horses, the occurrence of colic syndrome due to enterolithiasis has been increasingly prominent in several countries. Enteroliths are formed by the deposition of mineral matter from the diet to foreign bodies lodged in the colons of horses, several factors contribute to their incidence, among them, we can highlight an unbalanced diet, with a high content of protein, calcium and magnesium, restricted access to grazing . The present work deals with a case of enterolithiasis in an equine, with a surgical procedure performed at the Cavalos hospital for the removal of a unique artifact with a spherical shape, consisting of minerals, where an intraluminal obstruction of a minor colon occurred, and to punctuate the influence of diet in the predisposition of enterolithiasis.Item Relatório de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório(2023-04-17) Souza, Ethiane Batista de; Cordeiro Filho, Hélio Manso; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5631206025493479; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4527327570387332Item Glossite ulcerativa em equino - Relato de caso(2022-10-10) Miranda, Laura Gambini de; Batista, André Mariano; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5615914349535394; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0581538509935894Item Sinocentese em equino com sinusite primária bilateral crônica: relato de caso(2021-02-24) Lima, Gustavo Simões; Araújo, Carolina Akiko Sato Cabral de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5868230858347175; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3719013034230840The Residency Program in the Professional Health Area was implemented at the Department of Veterinary Medicine (DMV) of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), Campus Recife, in 2014 and currently has eighteen vacancies annually, distributed among eleven areas concentration.
