(2024-03-04) Brito Neto, José Heleno de; Maia Filho, Luiz Flávio Arreguy; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2508376486299377
The present monograph investigates the impact of the availability bias on individuals' investment decisions, aiming to understand to what extent and by which means financial education can mitigate the adverse effects of these decisions. Initially, we retrieve concepts from behavioral economics and contextualize the situation of financial literacy in Brazil. Through a literature review, we seek to understand the role of the availability bias in investment decisions, analyzing case studies and research that address its influence in different economic contexts. Using an analytical-deductive method, we explore strategies and techniques that can be employed to minimize the negative impact of this bias, aiming to improve financial decision-making. Data collection and selection involved a systematic review of academic sources, prioritizing articles in Portuguese between 2018 and 2023. Six articles were selected, focusing on Brazilian case studies. The studies analyzed reveal that the availability bias significantly influences individuals' investment decisions, especially among the younger and less experienced. Information about the recent appreciation of financial assets, widely disseminated on social media platforms and influenced by digital influencers, has been shown to be a determining factor in investment choices. Lack of understanding of associated risks and the tendency to seek alternative assets were also highlighted as significant concerns.

(2023-09-15) Souza, Thayná Valesca Ramos de; Oliveira, Isabel Cristina Pereira de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4745142041015422; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2071420323826118
The objective of this work is to present the role of financial education for youth through a training program for high school students as a strategy to promote a healthy relationship with money. The research method used in the study was qualitative and exploratory. Bibliographic research was employed for data and information collection. In the conducted research, it was observed that the indebtedness of young people in Brazil is increasing, and financial education can help reduce this indicator. Furthermore, based on the evaluation of the pilot project on financial education for high school students, it yielded relatively better results when compared to the control groups. The research results conclude that financial education is a highly relevant topic for high school students and is indispensable in shaping young individuals who are conscious of everything related to the financial system. Therefore, it is evident that financial education taught to young people in schools provides the necessary information so that in the near future, they not only gain clarity and balance in managing their family budgets but also acquire knowledge that leads to financial independence.

This monograph aimed to analyze the evolution of credit, debt and default in Brazil between 2013 and 2023, and highlight the benefits of financial education. To achieve this objective, the methodology used was bibliographical research and secondary data obtained from the Consumer Debt and Default Survey (Peic). The literature review shows that there was an expansion of credit during this period, stimulating the consumption of Brazilian families. This increase in consumption resulted in excessive debt. The data showed that the level of family debt grew during this period, reaching a record percentage in 2022. The research also showed that the families most affected by default are those with lower incomes and those with a low educational level. Furthermore, data from the International Student Assessment Program (Pisa) showed that Brazil had the worst performance among the participating countries, in which 53% of Brazilian students were below the minimum level of financial knowledge. Financial education is the process of learning and developing skills to deal with money intelligently and responsibly and manage investments, loans and financing. Therefore, the lack of financial education in Brazil has a direct impact on the lack of control over the debts of Brazilian families. Therefore, financial education is an important tool for people to acquire financial skills and effectively manage their finances, resulting in a reduction in excessive debt and default.

(2021-02-22) Silva, Genilda Karla Nobre da; Albuquerque, Hortência Cruz de; Melo, Jaqueline Ferreira Holanda de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0639256942534141; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4316127961561473; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7054065410080769
Among the consequences of certain consumption behaviors, over-indebtedness has been presented as one of the main dilemmas for Brazilians in these first two decades of the 21st century. Therefore, the general objective of this work was to understand the financial lives of consumers who are or have been in over-indebtedness. Regarding the methodological procedures, the present work has an exploratory-descriptive character of a qualitative nature. For the collection of primary data, on-site observation was carried out and a form was made available on the Google Forms platform. Based on what was observed, we can consider that schooling is not synonymous with financial education, income, its source and amount, together with the number of people who live together, despite not being determining factors in over-indebtedness, can help to worsen both default and quality of life. We hope that this work will contribute to the creation of effective programs to prevent over-indebtedness, protection and consumer education, with a view to influencing financial health and, consequently, improving the quality of life of citizens.

The work was developed by a methodology conducted through a qualitative and quantitative research through a survey carried out among young people from different courses of the Higher Education Institution during the month of August 2020, where the data were collected through an electronic questionnaire. applied to a sample composed of 81 enrolled students. To meet the general objective, several variables were used for the analysis, such as the socioeconomic profile, the experiences with Financial Education before and after entering higher education, the consumption profile, the behaviors in relation to finance, among others. As a result, the research identified that despite the pandemic of COVID-19, it appears that young university students at UFRPE are not very prone to debt, or at least in their perception, most do not consider themselves indebted. Of those who consider themselves indebted and also over-indebted (27.2% and 11.1%, respectively), the most common type of debt is the credit card (51.9%). (2020-10-10) Barros, Naylline Hills de Albuquerque; Albuquerque, Hortência Cruz de; Silva, Laurileide Barbosa da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7869325906861017; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4316127961561473; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1375627667531678
The supply of credit to the Brazilian population has grown significantly in recent years. However, the context in which this inclusion in the financial market took place brought alarming rates of family indebtedness. This problem aroused interest in promoting actions aimed at its prevention, as well as improving the relationship between individuals and finances. One of the institutions that comprised the proposal was the Central Bank of Brazil, aiming to spread financial citizenship, a concept recently discussed, which refers to the exercise of the rights and duties of individuals with regard to financial life. Financial citizenship is supported by a context of financial inclusion and education, consumer protection, and participation in the dialogue with the National Financial System. In this sense, the experience lived as a volunteer student, in the Program for the Treatment of Super-indebted Consumers (PROENDIVIDADOS) guided the accomplishment of this work, which had as its proposed objectives: to analyze financial citizenship in the daily life of indebted consumers and, specifically, to characterize the profile of users of PROENDIVIDADOS, identifying the main problems presented by consumers and assessing the exercise of financial citizenship based on the experiences of users of PROENDIVIDADOS. The methodological path adopted was based on the qualitative approach, with participant observation as an instrument of data collection. The results show that the consumers served by PROENDIVIDADOS, most of them are retired and that they have been exercising financial citizenship in a precarious way, mainly due to the way in which they are financially included, without access due to financial education and weakened in your protection. However, these factors show the urgency of actions that expand access to financial citizenship, in its broadest sense, a job to be carried out continuously and systematically, through the cooperation of different bodies, whether public or private, with the due responsibility of the State.
