With a view to personal improvement, this report addresses the ESO, which took place between June 1st and August 14th, 2023, with emphasis on the area of Small Animal Surgical Clinic. Divided into two parts, it began on June 1st and ended on the 30th of that month at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE) under the supervision of M.V. Dr. Robério Silveira de Siqueira Filho and collaborators. Between July 3rd and August 14th of that same year, ESO began to be carried out at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), in Areia, Campus II, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Felipe Nael Seixas and collaborators. The two experiences totaled the 420 hours required to complete the bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine at UFRPE. Knowledge of the regional anatomy of the head and neck is essential to work in veterinary dentistry and the veterinarian, to be successful in the dental clinic, must become familiar with the very delicate structures of this anatomical region, which is made up of bones of the skull, face and jaw, its joints, innervations, vascularization, glands and adjacent tissues, as well as the lymphatic system. In this way, it is possible for surgical intervention to become much safer and more precise in the care of dogs and cats. As an integral part of this report, the last chapter will consist of a syllabus proposal for the creation of the optional subject entitled “Clinical Anatomy Applied to Dog and Cat Dentistry”, for the Undergraduate Course in Veterinary Medicine at UFRPE. This menu aims to contribute to the scientific and academic community, with the aim of compiling basic and important anatomy concepts for one of the veterinary medical specialties that has been growing the most and gaining ground, which is dog and cat dentistry.Item Estudo epidemiológico e achados hematológicos em caninos e felinos infectados por Anaplasma platys no leste potiguar - Natal, RN(2023-01-21) Silva, Laura Gomes da; Teixeira, Miriam Nogueira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7448694221629949; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5665513595061012Item Osteotomia de nivelamento do platô da tíbia (TPLO) para correção de ruptura do ligamento cruzado cranial (RLCCr) em cão: relato de caso(2023-04-26) Marques, Lucas Valeriano; Andrade, Lílian Sabrina Silvestre de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0894888392191039; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6255691366499739The mandatory supervised internship corresponds to the discipline taken in the 11th period of the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine course at UFRPE, with a total workload of 420 hours, with the objective of encouraging the student to develop practical skills in the intended area of activity. It was developed under the guidance of Professor Lílian Sabrina Silvestre de Andrade and supervision of Dr. Jackson de Oliveira Siqueira. The present work is divided into two chapters, where the first reports the activities experienced during the period from November 07, 2022 to January 20, 2023, in the surgical clinic area of Hospital Veterinário Harmonia. In the second chapter, a case report is described of a dog diagnosed with rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament in the right pelvic limb, submitted to tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO), in order to elucidate the pathophysiology and treatment of this condition with high prevalence rate in dogs.Item Achados clínicos e histopatológicos de cães com dermatite atópica utilizando diferentes dietas comerciais como coadjuvantes à terapia convencional(2023-04-18) Monteiro, Paulo Ricardo Romão; Nascimento, Júlio Cézar dos Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4343017315156292; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1499855858522597Item Diagnóstico comparativo entre a histopatologia e a imuno-histoquímica de neoplasia maligna em membro pélvico de um canino da raça pastor de shetland - Relato de caso(2023-04-25) Silva, Aline Helena Albuquerque da; Oliveira, Andrea Alice da Fonseca; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2519790342576901; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4576494329697205The cases of neoplasms in pets show a significant growth compared to decades ago, being considered as one of the main causes, when malignant, of death or euthanasia among canines and felines. The use of existing diagnostic resources favors obtaining early results, positively impacting the survival of affected animals. Some neoplasms show a very marked degree of undifferentiation or anaplasia, requiring the adoption of immunohistochemistry (IHC) for diagnostic conclusion. The objective, with this case report, was to present a clinical case of neoplasm in the region of the interdigits of the left pelvic limb in a canine of the Shetland Shepherd breed, in which immunohistochemistry was necessary for diagnostic confirmation. The patient underwent surgical resection with amputation of the digit involved to reduce the chances of recurrence. IHC was requested for diagnostic confirmation after carrying out cytology and histopathology tests, which suggested malignant mesenchymal neoplasia and histiocytic sarcoma, respectively. The markers expressed by the cells ruled out the diagnostic conclusion of the histopathological examination. Therefore, it is concluded that immunohistochemistry is of great importance to confirm the type of neoplasia involved, preventing chemotherapy protocols from being erroneously adopted due to mistaken histopathological reports.Item Anestesia em cão submetido à cistectomia parcial após ruptura de bexiga por trauma automobilístico: relato de caso(2023-04-28) Souza, Maria Carolinne Ramos de; Silva, Alessandro César Jacinto da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4423843040345060; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5396157293295305The present work aims to characterize the routine and activities carried out during the period referring to the vigency of the Mandatory Supervised Internship (MSI/ESO) that occurred between november 7th, 2022 and january 20th, 2023 at the Popular Veterinary Clinic of Animal Life Association (ALA/AVA) located in the city of Ribeirão Preto – SP. The assignments were carried out under the guidance of Professor Doctor Alessandro César Jacinto da Silva and supervision of the Veterinary Doctor Raquel Stamato Malta and included animals’ evaluation during pre surgical, trans-surgical and post-surgical, picking up the ideal anesthetic protocol for each patient, dosis calculation, drugs administration, trichotomy, venoclysis, anesthetic induction, endothracheal intubation, multiparameter monitoring, systolic blood pressure verification and solving possible anesthetic complications. Aspects pertaining to the location where the experience took place are described in the report, as well as a detailed record of cares and procedures performed, followed by a case report of anesthesia for partial cystectomy in a 7-month-old male long coat Chihuahua dog presenting uroabdomen due to bladder rupture associated with necrosis and pelvic fracture due to automobile trauma.Item Laparotomia exploratória para avaliação e correção de ruptura em vesícula biliar em cadela spitz alemão(2023-04-26) Silva, José Gabriel Galdino da; Batista, André Mariano; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5615914349535394; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6167493443184332Biliary tract disease can be caused by several factors, such as extrahepatic biliary tract obstruction, trauma, neoplasms, congenital anomalies, and pancreatic abnormalities. Both partial and total biliary obstruction allow an ascending infection to occur. The obstruction can also cause ischemic stenosis in the gallbladder wall, as well as the presence of bacteria can cause increased weakness in the gallbladder wall causing necrotizing cholecystitis and result in increased organ fragility that can cause rupture. The biliary tract disease usually affects animals older than 8 years and there are no reports of sexual predilection, but small breeds tend to develop the disease more. The treatment, when there is obstruction, is surgical; when not, there is the possibility of clinical treatment, but there is the need for constant monitoring to evaluate the development of the disease. The objective of this paper was to report a case of recovery and survival of a patient with ruptured gallbladder, despite aggravating factors and other comorbidities.Item Relatório de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório (ESO) realizado no HS Hospital Veterinário, município de Recife - PE, Brasil.
