The presente article is a historiographical review on the Pernambuco Restoration war that caused a great impact on the functioning dynamics of the Captaincies of the North, but not only on the colonizers. The various indigenous peoples in the conflict area were also affected. In the context of war, the most diverse existing indigenous groups ended up taking advantage of the social instability to negotiate both with the Portuguese and with the Dutch, in order to try to change or maintain the dynamics that ended up favoring their interests. These groups of natives had a great impact on the outcome of the combat for both sides, composing a substantial number of combatants in the fights and also applying their own method of warfare. They also conquered military positions and possessions for their adherence to the conflict, which may lead us to reflect on a supposed dynamic of subordination.
