Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), also known as e-waste, refers to waste originating from equipment that relies on electric current or electromagnetic fields for operation. The increasing generation of this waste, and the risk of environmental contamination posed by its constituent materials, represent current challenges that require the attention of government, institutions and the general population. For this reason, with the aim of providing more information about WEEE management in the city of Recife-PE, this research carried out an assessment of the current context of waste management in the city, in order to identify possible improvements, analyzing the types of waste collected, the functioning of companies, and potential sustainable destinations. In this context, six main companies responsible for managing this waste in the municipality were identified, offering collection services and voluntary drop-off points throughout Recife in partnership with other entities. The improvement proposals include strengthening reverse logistics by increasing collection points in strategic locations and encouraging technological innovation, in addition to implementing environmental education programs in both schools and communities.Furthermore, the creation of a municipal portal on WEEE and the development of public-private partnerships are essential for improving the management of this waste. Despite some initiatives, Recife still lags behind other cities, such as São Paulo-SP and Fernandes Pinheiro-PR, in terms of the legal framework and WEEE management practices, highlighting the need for greater public involvement and transparency in data dissemination. After the study, it was possible to affirm that it is necessary to expand investments in WEEE management, increase public-private partnerships, and promote public awareness throughenvironmental education.

The present report on the Mandatory Supervised Internship (MSI), developed under the supervision of the Embrapa Soils researcher, Dr. José Coelho de Araújo Filho, analyzes the potential for irrigation of lands within the Potiguara indigenous territory, specifically for corn cultivation. The studied territory is located on the northern coast of Paraíba, covering approximately 21.2 thousand hectares and is recognized as traditional land of the Potiguara indigenous people. The area comprises various soil classes, predominantly Argisols, Spodosols, Gleysols, Neosols, as well as areas with mangrove soils. Overall, the lands demonstrate a medium irrigation potential for corn production, with the main limiting parameters being the textural class (V), the percentage of Ca²⁺ and Mg²⁺ (Y), the basic infiltration rate (I), and the depth of the reduction zone (W). The collected data showed corn cultivation as a viable option for agricultural activity in about 70.67% of the soils within the Potiguara territory. Thus, highlighting the importance of the results obtained in this study, as they can be used to contribute to more informed choices regarding sustainable and efficient soil management, as well as the increased productivity and sustainable growth of the people in this territory. Finally, a cartographic map was created for a better representation of the area and the results of classes and potentials obtained in the study.

With the increasing access to the internet via mobile devices among the less privileged classes in Brazil, digital sustainability becomes of growing importance. The aim of this study is to assess the impact of the Play Feature Delivery technology on mobile data consumption on Android devices. A parametric t-test was applied to evaluate significant differences between the averages of data amounts spent in Megabytes when downloading two applications. The result corresponded to a t-value of approximately 65.55 and the rejection of the null hypothesis. This finding not only underscores the technical importance for Android developers but also highlights its relevance in showing an improvement in mobile data usage, especially in an era where the democratization of access to information is vital. The research reinforces the idea that society should adapt to digital resources, optimizing data usage. To reach these conclusions, two mobile applications focused on first aid guidelines were developed and analyzed. The main advantage observed was the reduction in mobile data consumption, validating the efficacy of Play Feature Delivery compared to conventional applications.

Social and economic changes are fostering a significant increase in interest in entrepreneurship as a way to launch new businesses and form a class of entrepreneurs with a diversified and strategic vision of the market. The main objective of this study is to show the importance of education for sustainable business growth. The purpose of this study is to analyze the narrative literature to examine the role that environmental education has played in the growth of entrepreneurship. There must be a significant balance between the three primary dimensions of sustainable development - economic, social and environmental. A sustainable entrepreneur must identify a need in the form of a social or environmental cause or concern, but it is crucial to emphasize that this is only the first step. Business owners must also decide how to meet a need or how to create social and environmental value based on economic value. As a result, sustainable entrepreneurship is defined as the creation of goods and services that address social and environmental issues while generating financial gain. The goals achieved through entrepreneurship education must be aligned with the proposal of environmental education, seeking as a consequence a leveling of the economy, society, and the environment to help reduce social inequalities. In conclusion, environmental education in the development of a sustainable entrepreneur is a promising step towards a more balanced and resilient future. Integrating environmental and business knowledge with an innovative and creative approach allows entrepreneurs to act as agents of change, promoting sustainable development and assisting in the creation of societies.

(2024-02-28) Lima, Luara Gabriella Gomes de; Freire, Maria Betânia Galvão dos Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2636653493262436; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4105079582957608
The Brazilian semiarid region, located in the Caatinga Biome, is considered one of the most vulnerable to climatic variations due to irregular rainfall, water deficiency, and poverty among the population. As a result, current public policy programs have been investing in social water technologies for rainwater harvesting and storage to help rural families overcome the challenges posed by water scarcity. The technology of underground dams has been the subject of various research projects conducted by Embrapa and its partners, as it provides access and multiple uses of rainwater for farming families in the region. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in implementing underground dams in the rural agroecosystems of the Brazilian Semiarid, leading to the establishment of many units. Since the 1980s, research on this technology has played a crucial role in exchanging experiences and knowledge among farmers, development agents, and researchers, particularly regarding technical construction aspects, soil and water management, and suitable crop options. However, studies on the impacts of this technology on the agroecosystem and the lives of farming families are still in their early stages. Considering this, the present study aimed to conduct a case study evaluating the contribution of underground dams to the sustainability of an agroecosystem located in the Middle Sertão Alagoano Territory. The study was conducted as part of the ZonBarragem Project by Embrapa Solos UEP Recife. Soil samples were collected for morphological, granulometric, and chemical characterization of the area where the underground dam was planted. Participatory Rural Diagnosis (DRP) tools, such as semi-structured interviews, participant observation, construction of maps of natural resources on the property, and sustainability assessment charts, were used for sustainability evaluation. The results clearly showed that the underground dam, along with other rainwater harvesting technologies, is contributing to the improvement of the family's quality of life and the resilience of their agroecosystem to climatic adversities.
