The sheep meat production sector has established itself as an agro-pastoral activity of significant economic and social importance in Brazil, particularly in regions where the adaptability of sheep breeds to climatic conditions is notable. The semi-confinement system, characterized by a combination of grazing and controlled feeding, presents a viable alternative for sheep meat production, enabling better utilization of forage resources and contributing to the sustainability of the activity. In this context, the present study aims to explore the specificities of this practice in the city of Belo Jardim through a questionnaire designed and administered to local sheep producers. The objective is to collect data and characterize the sheep meat production system in semi-confinement, evaluating and discussing the productive and reproductive indices of the herd. Additionally, the study seeks to compare the productive data of one production system in the city to identify the potentials and limitations inherent in the production chain. Employing a methodological approach that includes quantitative data analysis, interviews with local producers, and direct observation, this research aims to understand management practices, adopted production systems, and the key factors influencing the profitability and viability of sheep meat production in Belo Jardim. It is anticipated that the results will contribute not only to strengthening the sheep production chain in the region but also to the formulation of public policies that promote the development of this activity.

I present this Memorial in a description of my personal, professional life trajectory and until my arrival at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. In this description I bring my peasant self, raised in the Chapada do Tamboril community in the rural area of the Municipality of Ouricuri located in the hinterland of Araripe. I was a student from school in rural areas until I arrived at University. I am a professional who brings my professional experiences to this day. In another topic, I have been bringing my entire trajectory during the four years of the Bachelor's degree in Agroecology, peasantry and Popular Education at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco in the form of a timeline and thus bringing my learnings and difficulties in this space. Presentation is in the form of a descriptive memorial as I just mentioned above. Given all the learnings, I chose two themes that I delved into more deeply, which were women and agroecology and inside I bring women and management and women and commercialization, where I bring quotes and learnings within this theme. And right after the final considerations, I bring what I learned and what the prospects are for my professional future.

The Brazilian semiarid region, located in the Caatinga Biome, is considered one of the most vulnerable to climatic variations due to irregular rainfall, water deficiency, and poverty among the population. As a result, current public policy programs have been investing in social water technologies for rainwater harvesting and storage to help rural families overcome the challenges posed by water scarcity. The technology of underground dams has been the subject of various research projects conducted by Embrapa and its partners, as it provides access and multiple uses of rainwater for farming families in the region. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in implementing underground dams in the rural agroecosystems of the Brazilian Semiarid, leading to the establishment of many units. Since the 1980s, research on this technology has played a crucial role in exchanging experiences and knowledge among farmers, development agents, and researchers, particularly regarding technical construction aspects, soil and water management, and suitable crop options. However, studies on the impacts of this technology on the agroecosystem and the lives of farming families are still in their early stages. Considering this, the present study aimed to conduct a case study evaluating the contribution of underground dams to the sustainability of an agroecosystem located in the Middle Sertão Alagoano Territory. The study was conducted as part of the ZonBarragem Project by Embrapa Solos UEP Recife. Soil samples were collected for morphological, granulometric, and chemical characterization of the area where the underground dam was planted. Participatory Rural Diagnosis (DRP) tools, such as semi-structured interviews, participant observation, construction of maps of natural resources on the property, and sustainability assessment charts, were used for sustainability evaluation. The results clearly showed that the underground dam, along with other rainwater harvesting technologies, is contributing to the improvement of the family's quality of life and the resilience of their agroecosystem to climatic adversities.

I present my academic and professional career in this memorial in an autobiographical approach, where many of the reflections were obtained through experience in different territories, in the daily lives of farmers in different locations in the Semiarid region. The aforementioned document is specific to my understanding and learning in themes related to Education in Agroecology with rural participatory processes, given the knowledge acquired in the Bachelor of Agroecology Peasantry and Popular Education (BACEP) and the experience of “Sertaneja Culture” in the surrounding territory. from PARNA-Vale do Catimbau, Serra do Araripe and Sertão do Pajeú, through Sítio Alcobaça, Association of Farmers and Farmers of Serra dos Paus Dóias (AGRODÓIA) and the Agroecological Development Center (SABIÁ) in the semi-arid region of Pernambuco. Relating Agroecological Scientific Knowledge to the ancestral knowledge of traditional native communities, we highlight here the importance of different integrated cultivation and breeding systems, with low environmental impact arrangements. Presenting the experiences of Mandatory Supervised Internships (ESO's), based on the management practices, implementation and processing of what is produced in Agroforestry Systems (SAF's), bringing SAF as a strategy for generating income, combating climate change and part of the solution to confront the issue of hunger in the Northeast Sertanejo, portrayed in Josué de Castro's work “Geografia da Fome”, published in 1964 and still current in terms of the developmental problems that threatened food security in the semi-arid region.

The indicators of thermal stress for ruminants are described according to the magnitude of the meteorological elements, physiological, behavioral adjustments, and productive response. This research was conducted to evaluate the ingestive behavior and phenotypic plasticity of Girolando heifers subjected to continuous grazing in the semiarid of Pernambuco. Three heifers of 7/8 Dutch-Gir genetic composition were evaluated, submitted to a paddock with 40 x 40 m brachiaria, for 21 days. The meteorological variables recorded in the production environment were the dry, bulb temperature (°C) and the relative humidity of the air (%), which allowed the thermal characterization through the temperature and humidity index (TM). The behavior of heifers was quantified through observation by instantaneous scanning of activities, walking, drinking, eating, ruminating, lying down, leisure and standing. The physiological responses recorded were rectal temperature (°C) and respiratory rate (movement mia-1). The experimental design was completely randomized in a 2 x 3 factorial arrangement (shifts x evaluation period). Behavioral variables were subjected to te chi-square and probability test. The physiological parameters were subjected to analysis of variance and application of the Tukey test at the level of 5% significance. The THI did not exceed 89 units, which characterizes the critical limit of moderate stress for the animals. The heifers proved to be adapted to the climate of the region, as, during the study period, they showed sufficient physiological and behavioral alteration capacity to maintain homoeothermic.

The rural environment formed by farmers, agroecological experimenters is a space rich in experiences, of ancestral knowledge that is passed between generations constituting itself as a territory of resistance and confrontations to the packages provided by the green revolution that in a way caused and causes social, environmental and economic problems. From this perspective, systematizing and describing agroecological experiences is a way of confronting this model of conventional agriculture. The present work is configured as a case study that seeks to portray the profound reality, seeking to reveal the multiple dimensions present in the agroecological experience of Seu Barrim and Dona Marilene. In the methodology, an analysis will be carried out in the agroecosystem with the purpose of shedding light on the agrobiodiversity present in productive backyards, in agricultural, forestry and cultural assets. As well as conversation circles and an analysis of some qualitative variables of the LUME method such as: Autonomy and gender equity. The data obtained in this research demonstrate the importance and contribution of the experience of Seu Barrim and Dona Marilene in the preservation and maintenance of agrobiodiversity, in the sovereignty and food security of the family, helping to combat the processes of climate change, semi-arid desertification, loss of biodiversity and the degradation of ecosystems, as well as their social contribution.
