Item Pela defesa da Fé de Cristo e a liberdade: a representação heróica de João Fernandes Vieira na obra O Valeroso Lucideno e o Triumpho da Liberdade, de Frei Manoel Calado(2023-11-30) Lima, João Vitor Otávio Santos de; Silva, Kleber Clementino da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2821384780282146; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3570880537710123This work has the purpose of analyzing the constructed representation of the figure of João Fernandes Vieira in the work Valeroso Lucideno e triumpho da Liberdade (1648) written by Frei Manuel Calado. The narrative covers, from the Dutch invasions in Pernambuco territory that began in 1630 to the first moments of the Pernambuco Insurrection. Lucideno, like other works from the 1600s, had an immediate political aim. Its emergency nature is denoted by its narrative ending abruptly, without contemplating the Restoration War as a whole and sent to Portugal even before the end of the conflict. The purpose of publishing the work was to obtain the favor of the King and his Ministers towards the insurgents, being dedicated to D. Theodósio. However, it shows the heroicization of João Fernandes Vieira based on the events narrated. The military man and planter is conceived as an agent of Providence to liberate the people of Pernambuco from Dutch heretics. The research is based on the works of Evaldo Cabral de Mello, José Antônio Gonsalves de Mello, Sylvia Brito and Kleber Clementino, to understand the sociopolitical context, as well as the writing of the war carried out in the period. For the study of representations, the use of the works and writings of Roger Chartier proved to be essential to characterize the construction of the heroic figure of João Fernandes Vieira in Calado's narrative.Item “Doutrina política, moral, muitos exemplos e muitas verdades”: o “Soldado Prático" e os usos políticos do diálogo no Império Português (1564-1612)(2021-07-13) Cardoso, Arthur Feller Rigaud; Silva, Kleber Clementino da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2821384780282146; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3648900347587927This research aimed to understand the relationship between political discourse and rhetoric in Portugal during the 16th and 17th centuries (1564 – 1612). The work was taken from the period of writing the two versions of the dialogues of the “Soldado Prático” by Diogo do Couto, sources used for analysis, through which we sought to characterize the literary and rhetorical strategies, as well as the main arguments, proposals and imperial projects for the maintenance of the State of Portuguese India. Thus, we sought to understand Couto's relationship with the society in which he lived, as he was crossed by different currents of political thought of his time, reflected in the themes and debates exposed in his works. Using the contributions of Roger Chartier, Diogo Ramada Curto and Mikhail Bakhtin, it was possible to have both a macro and a micro perception of the production and dissemination of the Portuguese political discourse in the analyzed period. From the understanding of the rhetorical and theoretical precepts adopted by the author, it was possible to contribute with an analysis of studies on the different political uses of the dialogic genre in Portuguese literate culture.
