(2024-07-19) Albuquerque, Juliana Maria de Oliveira; Santos, Edna Michelly de Sá; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5706618430575429; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7811017024129430
This work aims to describe the activities carried out during the Mandatory Supervised Internship (ESO), in the area of Clinical Medicine with a focus on Veterinary Dermatology. Divided into two parts, the first developed at the Experimental Laboratory of Chemotherapy in Veterinary Parasitology (LEQPV), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Júlio Israel Fernandes and the second, at the Univet Barra Veterinary Clinic, under the supervision of M. V Roberto dos Santos Teixeira, under guidance from Prof. Dr. Edna Michelly de Sá Santos. Both sites are located in the state of Rio de Janeiro and were carried out from April 8, 2024 to June 21, 2024, totaling 420 hours. The activities carried out were monitoring and assistance in consultations, carrying out low-complexity procedures, collaboration in the imaging sector and infirmary. This report describes the characteristics and case studies of the locations during the internship period. It will also report a case of lesion in the nasal plane in a dog with visceral leishmaniasis, of no defined breed, 5 years old, male, castrated, 11k, which in the nasal mirror presented an erythematous, non-pruritic, depigmented, ulcerated lesion, with loss of architecture and hyperkeratosis, caused by a probable immune-mediated action of Leishmaniasis.

The bruises in animal carcasses are a reality present in the country's refrigerators, causing damage to both the producer and the industry. One of the ways to evolve in increasing productivity is to perform a mapping of the hematomas present in bovine carcasses and quantify the possible economic losses. The objective of this study was to estimate the occurrence of lesions in bovine carcasses in a commercial refrigerator and the economic consequences arising from this scenario. The work will be carried out in a refrigerator, located in Recife-PE. The study comprised 10 random days of data collection, where the boning of 2500 cattle quarters was followed, 800 females and 1700 males, and it was possible to monitor the boning of 2100 rear quarters and 400 front quarters. To record the occurrences, a form developed especially for this purpose was carried out. The results found showed that of the 2500 cattle rooms evaluated, 20.04% had some type of injury, with 398 of the lesions found in males (79.44%) and 103 females (20.56%). Evaluating the economic losses, during the experimental period, it can be observed that the total losses from injuries in kilograms was 88.17 Kg in 2500 rear, and only 501 (20.04%) presented injuries, so the losses during the 10 days was 0.176 Kg/quarter. It can be concluded that the situations to which animals are exposed until the moment of slaughter have an intense impact on the productive and behavioral parameters.

The muscles and tendons of the rotator cuff work together to provide stability and movement to the shoulder joint. When continuous movements occur in this region for many years, due to work or other events, injuries can occur in this muscle region. Lesions of the rotator cuff are a common cause of pain and disability in the shoulder, and surgical repair is often necessary. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a treatment option that has become increasingly common in recent years. This undergraduate thesis performs a literature review on the main causes of rotator cuff injuries, the types of standard treatments used and the biological properties of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF). In addition, a systematic review article is produced to evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of PRFs as a treatment option in patients, ultimately discussing the implications of the findings for clinical practice and future research. For this, articles found in electronic databases that went through the inclusion and exclusion process were used, which in the end were selected for full reading and inclusion in the monograph.

The Obligatory Supervised Internship was performed in the Surgical Clinic's sector of the Animalis - Surgery and Veterinary Clinic, located in Recife/Pernambuco.The establishment has several sectors on two floors, the ground floor area is used for clinic activities and the first floor for surgical routine. The objective was to describe the main topical products currently used for the wound healing of animal, besides report cases associated with the theme. Understanding the wound healing process is essential for choosing the best product to assist the body in repairing the affected area. Thus, there is a wide variety of topical products available for use in the wound, so these products play an important role in all stages of healing, in order to avoid complications and reduce tissue recovery time. The topical products used have different functions, which are: antiseptics, antimicrobials, healing enhancers and wound protectors. Therefore, there are several combinations of animal wound management protocols that are effective for different types of wounds.
