Putting into practice the theoretical contents seen during graduation. The internship was held at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) from August 19, 2019 to September 27, 2019 and at Pet Dream Veterinary Hospital from September 30, 2019 to October 30, 2019. Throughout the work, a literature review was performed on the anatomy of the spine and spinal cord, as well as the pathophysiology of intervertebral disc herniation. Considered a routine procedure in veterinary clinics, treatments for this type of disease can follow two lines of treatment, conservative and surgical. With the advancement of studies in the field of alternative medicine, it has been noted the benefits that acupuncture has shown in the treatment of intervertebral disorders. A case study was then conducted in which topics were provided that provide information and illustrate the daily life of the veterinarian.
