This paper intends to carry out a study of the land reform policy implemented in Brazil from 1994 to 2018. As well as to analyze the governmental actions of the policies of strengthening of the family agriculture in the period. The study was based on documentary research through official government data and the reference bibliography for the topics covered. The objective was to investigate the strategic components of agrarian reform and family farming as mechanisms to address inequality and poverty in rural areas, providing employment and income generation for Brazilian society. Family farming is largely responsible for Brazilian agricultural production, especially food production for the Brazilian domestic market.
