Item Lipoma em cães: revisão de literatura(2024-10-04) Cavalcanti, Ingrid Tavares Lima Silva Uchôa; Pereira, Márcia de Figueiredo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2176602807865729The Supervised Mandatory Internship (SMI) is a mandatory course in the Veterinary Medicine program at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), with a workload of 420 hours, being a requirement for obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine. The internship was carried out in the Animal Pathology Department at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (HOVET/UFRPE), from April 1 to June 14, 2024. The internship provided practical experience and expanded knowledge through the guidance of the teams from the Maria Ignez Cavalcanti Histopathology Laboratory, the Necropsy Room, and the Microscopy Room. The final internship report was divided into two parts: Chapter I, containing the report of the activities performed and their respective results, and Chapter II, consisting of a literature review on lipoma. The activities took place in the pathology department of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at São Paulo State University (UNESP), Campus Botucatu - SP, from April 1st to April 30th, 2024, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Noeme de Sousa. Additionally, the internship included work at the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases within the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, Campus Recife - PE, from May 6th to June 19th, 2024, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Leucio Câmara Alves. In the pathology department, cytological examinations, anatomoclinical necropsies, and forensic necropsies were performed. At the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases, services were provided in the canine leishmaniasis outpatient clinic, including routine tests such as the Knott, Flotac, and Mini Flotac techniques. During the internship period, an article titled ‘Overview of Crimes Against Dogs and Cats and Investigation of Leishmaniasis and Scabies in Animals Under the Care of Protectors in the Municipality of Ipojuca - PE was prepared. Data were collected from the 42nd and 43rd Police Stations in Ipojuca, and visits were made to animal protectors, with evaluation forms completed for dogs, cats, and scabies cases. Six cases from the 42nd police station and six from the 43rd were analyzed. Among the animals evaluated from the protectors, one dog tested positive for Leishmania infantum chagasi amastigotes, another dog had Demodex sp., and a cat tested positive for Notoedres cati. Additionally, in eight cats undergoing trichogram analysis, Lynxacarus radovskyi was found in 100% of cases. Regarding the animals’ history, 54.28% were rescued from abusive conditions. Thus, considering that the Leishmaniasis-positive dog was rescued from abandonment, we can infer, albeit tentatively, the significant connection between animal cruelty and its potential impact on public health.Item Proposta de ficha de processamento para avaliação de casos suspeitos de abuso sexual em cães e gatos(2022-05-13) Mota, Marcela Ferreira; Oliveira, Andréa Alice da Fonseca; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2519790342576901; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5102173215903915The present work reports the activities developed in the area of Animal Pathology, from February 14th to May 4th of 2022, at the Departamento de Medicina Veterinária (DMV) of Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE) in Recife - Pernambuco, of the subject of Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório (ESO) of the undergraduate course in Veterinary Medicine of UFRPE. Fernanda Vieira Amorim da Costa and accompaniment by all residents, masters and PhD in the Small Animal Clinic sector. The mandatory supervised intership happens, especially, in the Feline Sector (Medfel), with a total of approximately 100 felines during these three months, many cases could be experienced, but one case can be excel for your rarity and few studies about. Anasarca or generalized edema it’s a condition can’t be observed in adult felines, being associated, in most cases, with poor fetal formations. This happens by the changes in the fluid exchange mechanism of the organism, taking to a exacerbated deposition of fluid in the interstitial space of the entire animal organism. This condition has described a few times in adult patients and is rarely reported in association with restrictive cardiomyopathy, this condition can change the cardiac diastole due to the high deposition of fibrin in the myocardium, block the normal functioning of this heart, to atrial dilatation mainly. The feline patient doesn’t have patterns in clinical findings that lead to more effective studies in the case of heart disease and because they demonstrate significant behavioral changes late, being attended many times when the course of the disease is at a level described as difficult to treat and unfavorable prognosis, makes it difficult to identify specific factors that facilitate the treatment and preventive diagnosis in these cases, being this disease in particular idiopathic cause and little is known about how it manifests in these animals. The objective of this report was to present the case of a feline patient with an anasarca, as a consequence of a restrictive cardiomyopathy, seeking to provide more information to the staff, in order to facilitate the maintenance of the life of these patients and to promote support for diagnostic methods.
