The activities took place in the pathology department of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at São Paulo State University (UNESP), Campus Botucatu - SP, from April 1st to April 30th, 2024, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Noeme de Sousa. Additionally, the internship included work at the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases within the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, Campus Recife - PE, from May 6th to June 19th, 2024, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Leucio Câmara Alves. In the pathology department, cytological examinations, anatomoclinical necropsies, and forensic necropsies were performed. At the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases, services were provided in the canine leishmaniasis outpatient clinic, including routine tests such as the Knott, Flotac, and Mini Flotac techniques. During the internship period, an article titled ‘Overview of Crimes Against Dogs and Cats and Investigation of Leishmaniasis and Scabies in Animals Under the Care of Protectors in the Municipality of Ipojuca - PE was prepared. Data were collected from the 42nd and 43rd Police Stations in Ipojuca, and visits were made to animal protectors, with evaluation forms completed for dogs, cats, and scabies cases. Six cases from the 42nd police station and six from the 43rd were analyzed. Among the animals evaluated from the protectors, one dog tested positive for Leishmania infantum chagasi amastigotes, another dog had Demodex sp., and a cat tested positive for Notoedres cati. Additionally, in eight cats undergoing trichogram analysis, Lynxacarus radovskyi was found in 100% of cases. Regarding the animals’ history, 54.28% were rescued from abusive conditions. Thus, considering that the Leishmaniasis-positive dog was rescued from abandonment, we can infer, albeit tentatively, the significant connection between animal cruelty and its potential impact on public health.Item Relatório do Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório (ESO) realizado na empresa Tapuio Agropecuária LTDA, município de Taipu-RN, Brasil: medidas de biosseguridade em granja de sistema alternativo de galinhas caipira na zona rural de Taipu, Rio Grande do Norte, Brasil(2024-02-23) Kameoka, Karina Mika; Bartolomeu, Cláudio Coutinho; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7619056086707716; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0650419370525997Item Relato de caso: manejo como influenciador e determinante na fase inicial da criação de frango de corte em aviários com pressão negativa(2022-10-07) Silva, Felipe Augusto Bezerra da; Barros, Mércia Rodrigues; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1935392548217410; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1848315590395061As part of the curriculum for the bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine, ESO in essence aims to provide practical experience in the professional field. In this work, the activities aimed at industrial poultry were reported, experienced in the companies Guaraves-PB and Ovo Novo-PE, being carried out at two different times, starting on June 27th to August 17th, 2022, in Guaraves, contemplating 300 hours ; the remaining 120 hours were completed at the company OvoNovo, from August 22 to September 12, 2022, thus totaling 420 hours of practical activities. Due to the practical activities carried out in the companies, it is possible to highlight the need to know industrial poultry farming, to form a complete professional but with great responsibility and pride in the finished product; highlighting in the second chapter of this work, the handling in the initial phases as an influence on the results obtained at the end of the batch. Thus, the focus of the work was to show through results how important a management work is especially in the initial days of the batch, seeking the environment for the ideal development of the bird.Item Relatório de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório (ESO): o papel do estresse na medicina felina: um novo olhar sobre a síndrome de Pandora(2020-11-05) Botelho, Thatiany Lídia Moura; Souza, Daniela Maria Bastos de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4856221548369438; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0904369394105157To attain the graduation in Veterinary Medicine at UFRPE, the supervised internship was fulfilled at the feline veterinary office SEMEFEL, under the supervision of the veterinarians Lirêda Drechsler and Samara Viana. This Final Paper presents 2 chapters, the first being a local and casuistry introduction, with a brief explanation about casuistry, highlighting relevant issues of the clinical routine. The second chapter presents a literature revision about stress repercussion in feline medicine, presenting a current view of the Pandora Syndrom, as a systemic and more comprehensive than the ocurrency of inflamatory cystitis (interstitial). During the fulfillment of the internship the behavior issues and psychogenic diseases had a high incidence at the casuistry statistics, caused by fear, anxiety and chronic and acute stress; It was verified the importance of the feline specialist in transmiting to the cat owners the knowledge about ambient structuring, resources, eating and routine, with the goal of increasing wellfare. For this reason, we approach the Pandora Syndrom as a psychoneuroimmunoendocrine disease with systemic comorbities, treating the interstitial cystitis as one of its consequences. Synthetically, the Pandora Syndrom is seen as a multifactorial disease due to the sum of epigenetic factors and a sensitized CTRS (central threat response system) on the feline in an environment with stress triggers. Within this context, this study presents fundamental concepts and guidelines for the analysis and diagnosis of this syndrome as well as for its prevention based on strategies of multimodal environmental modification and cognitive-behavioral therapy, which can guide the clinician in face of a pandorized cat.Item Acompanhamento e controle zootécnico do sistema de produção de pequenos ruminantes (caprinos e ovinos), do CODAI/UFRPE, localizado na região da Zona da Mata Norte, no município de São Lourenço da Mata - PE(2021-12-07) Brito, Admilson Ribeiro Toscano de; Freitas, João Antônio Gomes de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1765326853404114; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7228033819346383The Obligatory Supervised Internship (ESO) was held at College Agricole Dom Agostinho Ikas of UFRPE, Campus-Tiúma, in the Animal Science Area, in the Nucleus de Caprinovinocultura, located in the forest Mata Norte region, in the district of Tiúma, municipality of San Lourenço of the Mata, Pernambuco, under the supervision of teacher Dr. João Antônio Gomes de Freitas and supervision of teacher Drª. Elisa Alves Vilar, with a total workload of 420 hours, in the period from 08/30/2021 to 11/16/2021. Zootechnical Monitoring and Control of the Goats and Sheep Production System were carried out, involving management of facilities; food management; reproductive management; productive management; sanitary management and disposal management. This work aimed to report the main activities related to the experiences developed during the referred internship, in the goat and sheep production nucleus of CODAI-UFRPE, in the routine of raising goats and sheep. The production nucleus, mentioned above, has a fixed squad of 22 animals; being 10 goats and 10 sheep (parents); 01 goat and 01 ram (breeders), in addition to the offspring, calving, which occur during the breeding routine. The goats are predominantly of the Anglo-Nubiana breed, while the sheep come from the Santa Ines breed. The intensive production system, with an emphasis on animal welfare, is the method adopted by the production nucleus. The installations consist of suspended bays with slatted floors. Nutritional and food management is carried out in a balanced way with elephant grass pasture (Pennisetum purpureum) and supplemented with protein and mineral concentrate. The main diseases observed and treated during this period were some bacterial diseases such as caseous lymphadenitis, food poisoning, epidermatitis and parasitic diseases such as worms. Discards are carried out following the guidelines for the genetic and productive improvement of the herd. During this period the animals showed an average weekly weight gain ranging from 250g to 350g per animal (50g/day).Item Ascensão e incompreensão do gato doméstico (Felis silvestres catus) no século XXI: a importância da etologia felina na relação afiliativa com humanos(2019-12-13) Santos, Thaíza Oliveira dos; Moura, Tereza Diniz de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6842974413081119; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7309947637572043The Compulsory Supervised Internship (ESO) is a compulsory curricular course in the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine Course of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), having been carried out entirely in the Maria João Experimental Cattery, located at Campus SEDE / UFRPE, in Recife (PE ). The activities developed were divided into the areas of Animal Behavior and Shelter Medicine, aiming to improve knowledge in Ethology and Animal Welfare, especially focused on feline species. The behavior of the domestic cat is the target of questions and misunderstandings; Many behaviors that are considered problematic are actually natural. Misinformation about feline ethology is one of the main reasons for the increase in homeless or mistreated animals worldwide. Thus, we aimed to understand the dynamics of the human-feline bond and contribute to a greater behavioral understanding of the feline species by studying which aspects of feline daily life (social, physiological or environmental) most influence the way they use their time. A virtual questionnaire (internet) consisting of 15 questions was elaborated, applied during 21 consecutive days, which counted 882 answers. The behavioral study was conducted at the Maria João Cattery, located in Recife-PE, with a duration of 25 days, resulting in 25 hours of observations and 21,850 recorded conducts. The results of the questionnaire, the ethogram and the animal welfare evaluation were analyzed descriptively. The data showed that most guardians have difficulty understanding their cats and that the environment becomes the factor that most influences the animal in choosing one conduct over another. It was also produced an educational material, based on the bibliographic survey conducted, intended for tutors and professionals dealing with the feline species, to serve as an instrument for the dissemination of appropriate knowledge and the reduction of crime rates committed against animals.
