The Compulsory Supervised Internship was held at the Veterinary Hospital of the Veterinary Medicine Department of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco - HOVET / UFRPE, from August 12 to November 19, 2019, supervised by Professor Daniela Maria Bastos de Souza, from the Department of Animal Morphology and Physiology - UFRPE, sponsored by Nestlé® Purina®, within the Nestlé® Purina® Young Veterinary Program. During the ESO, the aim was to provide overweight or obese dog breeders treated at the UFRPE teaching hospital with specialized care in the areas of Basic Nutrition and Small Animal Clinical Nutrition, within the Dog and Cat Weight Reduction Program. developed by Nestlé® Purina®. Through nutrition, the project sought to bring health, well-being, quality of life and longevity to the participating canines. By seeking modern, non-invasive, non-radiation, low-cost methods that can help prevent and monitor animal diseases, as well as assist in diagnosis, Infrared Thermography (IRT) has gained prominence. 4,094 thermograms from different areas of interest were evaluated. The care chosen to be reported refers to the IRT of a dog, English bulldog breed, with postoperative neurological sequelae, admitted to a private clinic in Recife, as an alternative imaging exam to better understand the possible brain injury, not diagnosed by Computed tomography, and to evaluate the peripheral circulatory repercussions from the damage. The objective of this work was to evaluate the performance of dogs submitted to weight reduction program and fed with Nestlé® Purina® Pro Plan® Veterinary Diets - Overweight Management ration, as well as to prove the effectiveness of infrared thermography as an auxiliary exam in the routine of veterinarians. It is concluded that success for weight reduction in dogs is closely correlated with the handling and disciplinarity of guardians following medical recommendations. IRT has been shown to be an effective method to assist veterinarians in their daily life in a variety of domestic canine disease situations. It was also of great importance in helping to better understand the damage from brain injury and hypothesis survey, being a collaborative examination of veterinary clinical conduct to resolve / understand the conditions.

(2018-08-30) Pereira, Ana Paula Cruz; Oliveira, Andréa Alice da Fonseca; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2519790342576901; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7365503880546970
Innovative techniques and treatments have made possible great advances in veterinary medicine, the affective relationship that man has developed since the beginning with domestic animals, thus increasing their life expectancy. As far as diagnoses are concerned, significant progress has been achieved by providing the veterinarian with resources that he has not had in the past, enabling a more accurate diagnosis. The compulsory Supervised Internship (ESO), under the guidance of Dr. Andrea Alice da Fonseca Oliveira, is a fundamental component for the conclusion and obtaining of the Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. The paper reports the case of a 10-year-old male dog diagnosed with Pericardial Effusion and Lymphoma. The internship was held at the Focus - Veterinary Diagnostic Center, which was chosen at the 4 Patas Veterinary Clinic in Olinda-PE, from April 18 to July 27, 2018, for 420 hours. Focus provides several diagnostic imaging services, such as computed tomography, endoscopy, ultrasound, digital radiography, among others. The experience of daily practice allowed by ESO promoted the enrichment of theoretical-practical knowledge seen within the academy, allowing to improve the direct training of the trainee.

The Compulsory Supervised Internship (ESO) is a discipline that is part of the curriculum and is compulsory for graduation in Veterinary Medicine at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. The required workload for this course is 420 hours. ESO began on September 18, 2018 and ended on December 5, 2018, and was held at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, focusing on Small Animal Surgery. The daily workload consisted of 8 hours per week, divided between the Surgical Technique classes (theoretical and practical) and the hospital's routine of surgery. The experience provided the daily experience of care and procedures that greatly helps in professional growth. Above all, it was the experiences of the stage that gave origin to the present study on Canine Perineal Hypospadia that was developed during the ESO period. Hypospadia is a rare congenital anomaly that occurs during fetal development resulting in malformation of the urethra and non-fusion of the ventral urethral sulcus. Hypospadia can be classified according to the location of its urethral opening. Together with this alteration, other anatomical alterations or associated pathologies may or may not occur. The objective of this study is to report a case of a 2 month old male SRD dog with severe perineal hypospadias, addressing the importance of imaging tests to clarify the clinical suspicions that emerged during the anamnesis and clinical examination. The animal is classified with severe perineal hypospadia, because along with this anomaly, there are other alterations like the penile malformation, not functionality of the organ and also the total opening of the foreskin. For this pathology, the surgical indication is total excision of the external genitalia and total amputation of the penis with orchiectomy. In addition to hypospadias, the animal presented ectopic testicles and anatomical alterations of some internal structures and organs, which could only be found after imaging. The surgical clinic added to the imaging diagnosis are important for the diagnosis of the patient and programming of the treatment and surgery of the animal in question.

    Hiperplasia nodular esplênica em cães
(2018-08-20) Silva, Suzana Gabriela da; Almeida, Edvaldo Lopes de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1496582925826113; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0421419511355810
Changes in spleen shape and size are often observed in dogs. These changes are confirmed in animals undergoing imaging tests such as x-rays and ultrasonography. Accompanying generally elderly dogs, medium or large, without predisposition of race and sex. Splenopathies are common diseases in this species, and may be associated with benign diseases, with an excellent prognosis, as well as diseases with a high degree of malignancy and a high mortality rate. Splenectomy is, in some cases, the measure adopted as therapeutic conduct. The objective of this work was to report the care of a 13-year-old female Poodle, who was admitted to the Arionaldo de Sá Veterinary Clinic for clinical consultation. Additional tests, such as ultrasonography, blood count and serum biochemistry, chest radiography and electrocardiogram were requested, in order to obtain the diagnosis and assess the general condition of the patient. Complementary exams revealed the presence of a rounded structure in the spleen, with high vascularity at the Doppler, but with no pulmonary metastasis. Based on the complementary tests, the animal was referred for splenectomy. After removal of the organ, it was sent in 10% formalin for histopathological examination for neoplasia analysis and graduation of possible malignancy.
