The Mandatory Supervised Internship (MSI), a required component of the undergraduate Veterinary Medicine program at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), consists of a total workload of 420 hours and is considered an essential activity for the professional qualification of students in their final semester. During the MSI, students have the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired throughout their studies, preparing them for practical professional activities. This report aims to describe the MSI carried out between April 1st and June 14th, 2024, divided between the Ospedale Veterinario Universitario Didattico at the University of Naples and the Ospedale Veterinario Universitario Didattico at the University of Padua, both located in Italy. The report highlights a clinical case of ovariectomy in a domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris), utilizing Zenalpha medication, composed by medetomidine hydrochloride (0,5 mg, an alpha-2 agonist) and vatinoxan hydrochloride (10 mg, an alpha-2 antagonist), combined with inhalational anesthesia using isoflurane and analgesia with methadone, complemented by subcutaneous infiltration of bupivacaine at the surgical incision site after the procedure. It is concluded that the combination of multimodal analgesia using Zenalpha and methadone, along with inhalational anesthesia with isoflurane and infiltrative bupivacaine, represents an effective strategy to provide analgesia during and after ovariectomy in female dogs, ensuring greater comfort during the perioperative period.

In recent years there has been an increase in the population of dogs and cats, leading them to live more together with all the people who make up this cycle. The methodology used was used to know the dynamics of activities of the technical prosecution of Laboratorio Biovet Vaxxinova, allied with the activities of Distribuidora Massapê and to trace the profile of deworming by professionals who act as veterinary clinicians in the metropolitan region of Recife. During this period, it was also possible to apply 60 questionnaires with professionals who act as veterinary clinicians in the city of Recife, aiming to draw the profile of prescription deworm for pets in this segment. The invited veterinarians, who were willing to participate, were clarified as to the possible doubts regarding the research questions and purpose, giving them the right to participate or not, as well as to give up at any stage of the research and were assured of their anonymity. on the results. With the results obtained through the questionnaires, it was possible to notice that most of the interviewed veterinary clinicians affirm that they usually revise pre-established protocols and behaviors frequently; Considering the present study, it can be considered that the dewormer prescription was unanimous, of the interviewees, more than 85% claim to prescribe dewormer for prevention and treatment; the frequency of deworming prescription in veterinary establishments in the city of Recife can be considered optimal; It was possible to notice that the veterinarians at the time of prescription opt for a more complete dewormer; The possibility of having used and liked the product result is the main motivation of respondents to recommend a specific brand; Among the sales promotion actions, 48% of respondents said that technical support and partnership is their favorite choice. Based on the results presented here, it is concluded that laboratories and distributors should invest in actions that allow the veterinarian to have more knowledge about the medication, what is its difference in relation to the competitors, to make samples available, thus keeping the medication in the veterinarian's protocols.

Total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) is an anesthetic technique that makes the use of drugs only through the intravenous route. This appearance of modality is growing in veterinary medicine due to new drugs with pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics properties that allow its use in longer anesthetic procedures, giving more cardiorespiratory safety when compared to inhalation anesthesia. The goal of TIVA is to give the animal muscle relaxation, analgesia, and hypnosis during the anesthetic procedure, and may be administered as an intermittent bolus, bolus associated with continuous infusion, continuous intravenous infusion, and target-controlled infusion. The present study presents the activities developed in veterinary anesthesiology for the obligatory supervised stage carried out at the Harmonia Veterinary Hospital (HVH) and at the Veterinary Anesthesiology Service of the Veterinary Hospital of the Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics School of UNESP - Campus de Botucatu. Also presenting a literature review on Total Intravenous Anesthesia, demonstrating concepts, main anesthetic drugs used and their effects on the animal's organism. Such reviews present the understanding of TIVA as a safe anesthetic technique, practical and applicable in any surgical procedure proposed to the animal.
