Item Protocolo anestésico com uso da medicação Zenalpha para ovariectomia em cadela – Relato de caso(2024-09-13) Carretta, Tainá; Souza, Daniela Maria Bastos de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4856221548369438; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1304811051409892The Mandatory Supervised Internship (MSI), a required component of the undergraduate Veterinary Medicine program at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), consists of a total workload of 420 hours and is considered an essential activity for the professional qualification of students in their final semester. During the MSI, students have the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired throughout their studies, preparing them for practical professional activities. This report aims to describe the MSI carried out between April 1st and June 14th, 2024, divided between the Ospedale Veterinario Universitario Didattico at the University of Naples and the Ospedale Veterinario Universitario Didattico at the University of Padua, both located in Italy. The report highlights a clinical case of ovariectomy in a domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris), utilizing Zenalpha medication, composed by medetomidine hydrochloride (0,5 mg, an alpha-2 agonist) and vatinoxan hydrochloride (10 mg, an alpha-2 antagonist), combined with inhalational anesthesia using isoflurane and analgesia with methadone, complemented by subcutaneous infiltration of bupivacaine at the surgical incision site after the procedure. It is concluded that the combination of multimodal analgesia using Zenalpha and methadone, along with inhalational anesthesia with isoflurane and infiltrative bupivacaine, represents an effective strategy to provide analgesia during and after ovariectomy in female dogs, ensuring greater comfort during the perioperative period.Item Relatório de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório (ESO), realizado no Hospital Veterinário Escola da Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco. Bloqueio dos nervos ciático e femoral para osteossíntese em terço proximal de fêmur em cão sem raça definida (SRD) de porte médio: estudo de caso(2022-06-03) Dias, Brenda Costa; Batista, André Mariano; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5615914349535394; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4365504851788428This conclusion work elucidates the routine of the Anesthesiology sector of the Veterinary School Hospital of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco during the required supervised internship, from February 14 to May 04, 2022, accumulating a workload of 420 hours, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. André Mariano Batista and supervision of the server veterinary doctor Rômulo Nunes Rocha. The aim of the work was to highlight the internship routine, demostrating points such as description of the internship place, the activities experienced, details about the techniques and drugs used, and information regarding the species and sex of the animals. A case of locoregional anesthesia (LRA) was also reported, in which the sciatic and femoral nerves of the lumbosacral plexus were blocked to perform osteosynthesis of the proximal third of the femur in a medium-sized mixed breed dog, with details of the techniques and drugs used in the procedure. The present study highlighted the importance of a good pre-anesthetic evaluation, where the patient's history, physical examination, and the request for pre-anesthetic exams were essential to plan a safe and efficient anesthetic protocol, respecting the characteristics and needs of each patient. Taking advantage of the benefits of multimodal anesthesia, the use of drugs with different properties proved to be satisfactory, as it allowed a reduction in the doses of the drugs used, as well as a reduction in the dose of the inhalation agent, without significant cardiorespiratory repercussions, ensuring good post-operative residual analgesia, and, consequently, a smooth anesthetic return and a good recovery of the patient. RLA proved to be an excellent alternative to neuraxial anesthesia, as they are techniques with low morbidity and low probability of complications, and are also an option when spinal anesthesia techniques are contraindicated.
