Who occupies, and how possible gaps are occupied, left by the absence of PE teachers in these places. For this purpose, bibliographical and documentary researches were carried out, as well as content analysis. To this end, we define our research problem as: What is the importance of PE, for students in the initial grades of elementary education in publications in the area, based on what the Critical Historical Pedagogic - PHC advocates for the social function of schools and PE in schools? Of the municipality of Recife? And to answer it, the following general objective: to identify the importance of PE, for students in the initial grades of elementary education in publications in the area, based on what the PHC advocates for the social function of the school and PE, in schools in the municipality from Recife. And two specific ones: a) exposing from the PHC the social function of the school and the PE, and b) analyzing the legal / historical milestones of education, notably the PE, both in the municipal schools of Recife.
