Since, the artist made important changes in the artistic scene of her time, also reflecting on her trajectory as a Brazilian painter, designer and teacher. Georgina de Albuquerque became an important Brazilian artist, known as the female representative of Impressionism and historical painting, a genre hitherto associated with men, standing out among the many female artists of her time. For a better understanding of the topic, research was carried out, based on publications authored by Madalena Zaccara and Ana Paula Cavalcanti Simioni, in which the relationship between female artists and the way in which they were erased or made invisible from the History of Art were discussed, throughout of the 19th and early 20th centuries. We will present an analysis of the historical painting done by Georgina de Albuquerque, her skills with different techniques and her struggle at the beginning of the 20th century to occupy a typically male academic artistic space.
