In light of the analysis of his process, transcribed and located in the Magazine of the Historical and Geographical Institute of Rio de Janeiro, we seek to understand how his attitudes led him to be expelled from the Society of Jesus and to be arrested by the Portuguese Inquisition. The relevance of the inquisitorial archives is highlighted in order to gain knowledge about Moraes and the activities he carried out while he lived in Bahia, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba and the provinces of the Netherlands in the 17th century. In addition, to recognize the relevance of the inquisitorial archives to understand how the Portuguese Inquisition was structured, who were the individuals prosecuted and how they related to faith and heresy.Item Entre práticas e normas: a Irmandade de São Pedro dos Clérigos da Vila do Recife (1713 - 1765)(2021-03-04) Lima, Gidiana Andrade Barbosa de; Lopes, Gustavo Acioli; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4871749798523527; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9921671020901867The religious brotherhoods were welfare institutions that had to promote collective devotion through the spiritual and material support of their associate brothers in Portuguese America. In this sense, in this work, we propose a study on the Brotherhood of São Pedro dos Clérigos in Vila of Recife during the period from 1713 to 1765. In this proposal, we analyze this institution from the royal and ecclesiastical codes in accordance with the internal statute and the activities carried out by the Brotherhood, seeking to identify as power relations to which it was inserted. For that, the Commitment of the brotherhood of São Pedro dos Clérigos was used, as Ordinations Philippines, as First Constitutions of the Archbishopric of Bahia and a request made by the Brotherhood to the overseas council where they stand out as administrative practices of the Brotherhood.
