    O Plano Collor I nas páginas do Jornal do Commercio e do Diário de Pernambuco

    The present study seeks to identify the economic columnists of Diário de Pernambuco (DP) and Jornal do Commercio (JC), in the period between March 16, 1990 and January 31, 1991; as well as to analyze the expressions of the columnists and of the printed communication vehicles themselves in relation to the Collor Plan, in the established time-frame. For this purpose, this research is methodologically supported by the procedures for analyzing journals, presented by the authors Maria Helena Capelato and Tânia de Luca. The research was carried out through a bibliographic survey on the theme "Government and Collor Plan" - and its set of Provisional Order, which aimed to liquidate inflation, as well as modernize the country and provide it with fiscal balance -, on the Scielo.br, Google Scholar and Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations databases; and carried out in the Public Archive of the State of Pernambuco, where we physically access the newspapers, given that the Digital Newspaper Library of the National Library does not have the editions of these newspapers from the 1990s digitized. The research shows that the Diário de Pernambuco opts for a line of total alignment with the Fernando Collor government, including adopting the policy of building a heroic image of the elected President, attributing to him the actions they considered positive with the general public, while Jornal do Commercio, despite initial support in its editorial, adopts, through its columnists, a more critical stance towards governmental acts and actions. Throughout the researched period the newspaper became as critical as its columnists
