The path experienced by the Civil-military Dictatorship (1964-1985) in Brazil have a lot of nuances and issues debated in historiography. Within this theme, the military government, which lasted 21 years, experienced several protests and propaganda, favorable and unfavorable moments. We take football as a central aspect of the analysis of the military government between the years of 1968 and 1972, it is possible to perceive the sport as a fundamental element in understanding the propaganda and the ideological discourse constructed by the military around the political project, in this way the work of the Special Public Relations Advisory (SPRA), a government propaganda body, together with National Agency and de president, found in sport a possibility of spreading a good image and nationalist discourse favorable for the dictatorship.
