The state of Pernambuco, encompassing the biomes of the Atlantic Forest and Caatinga, faces challenges of degradation, especially in the Atlantic Forest, extensive sugarcane cultivation has resulted in forest fragmentation of biome, with impoverished and abandoned areas. The study suggests reestablishing the use of these degraded areas considering market demand, with the main objective of conducting an agroclimatic zoning of areas suitable for eucalyptus plantation in the Zona da Mata of Pernambuco. To achieve this, data on average air temperature and precipitation were collected from four meteorological stations distributed in the region. Using these data, monthly climatic water balance was calculated following the method proposed by Thornthwaite and Mather (1955). Subsequently, the data were processed and mapped using a Geographic Information System (GIS) environment using QGIS 3.16 software. The agroclimatic zoning was elaborated considering the climatic requirements of the Eucalyptus urophylla species, highlighting areas with thermal and water conditions suitable for cultivation. The results showed that approximately 28.95% of the analyzed territory in the Zona da Mata is suitable for the development of the species, concentrating in 16 municipalities surrounding the Metropolitan Region of Recife. This potential area totals 2428 km². On the other hand, approximately 71.05% of the studied area was considered unsuitable due to identified levels of water deficit. These results can contribute to land use planning, promoting more sustainable and effective cultivation practices in the region.

An Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária (EMBRAPA) is of great importance to Brazilian society, as it produces various products, processes and services that assist in agricultural production. However, its functional organization is complex, and it is important to unravel how it is formed. Initially, there is a need to outline the Company's historical profile, as well as the criteria that permeated its guidelines. Then, its current structure and composition help in understanding its functionality, as well as bringing the idea of a hierarchy of activities in each sector. The most relevant issue when it comes to this institution is research, development, and innovation, because they have the purpose of obtaining results that come from scientific investigation. In this way, the understanding of how this sector is inserted in EMBRAPA, makes its function more understandable, demonstrating its capacity for national and international impact. However, for these results to be disseminated in the information vehicles and reach the final customer, the technology transfer must be successful, a fact controlled by the activities of another sector of the institution and that requires attention. In general, all the Company's activities follow a basic ideal, thought factors that meet the needs of society in integration with sustainable development, being attentive to meeting the main global demands of today. The study of the decentralized unit of EMBRAPA Solos was carried out to show the functioning that a unit has at the national level, with significant relevance in the Northeast and in particular in Pernambuco, through its Unidade de Execução de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento (UEP Recife), presenting two important research lines developed by UEP Recife, as a way of highlighting its impact in the region. At the end of all the reflection carried out on the importance of EMBRAPA and its partners in the sustainable development of Brazilian agriculture, it was evident the relevance that this company has for society, being a multifunctional institution, which occupies an important space in the national and international agricultural sector. Regardless of political circumstances, EMBRAPA's continuity is important so that its activities remain in a continuous process of development, aiming to continue with the promotion of autonomy, social equality, and diversity, both for individuals and their agricultural systems.

This monograph presents data on the pattern of location and agglomeration of economic activities in the city of Recife, between the years 2018 and 2021, looking at the period before and after the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. The main sectors of the city of Recife referring to new companies opened in this period are analyzed. The distance-based concentration measure was applied to analyze the pattern of companies' location, estimated from the methodology K density function, presented by Duranton and Overman (2005), because, as it is a variable based on distance, it is possible to estimate the concentration degree of the points individually, without aggregating them in spatial units and allowing to measure the concentration or dispersion without aggregation bias. It is concluded that confirming previous research, activities involving retail trade, especially services, demonstrate a strong pattern of location over short distances, even after the pandemic is over. In the industry sector, there is no location pattern for the city of Recife throughout the studied period, which is different from the available literature. In the case of the Human Health and Social Services sector, new data were presented, demonstrating a sharp drop in the location pattern, becoming more dispersed after the beginning of the pandemic. However, due to the lack of information from other sectors, it is essential to carry out complementary studies for a greater contribution to the needs of these activities, thus helping in the decision-making about the urban economic space of the city.
