The stains contaminated beaches, estuaries, reefs and mangroves and reached several organisms. This substance is capable of causing high mortality, decreased density and changes in the structure of marine communities. The crustaceans of the infraorder Axiidea, known as ghost shrimp, are burrowing marine organisms, considered important ecosystem engineers and widely used as bait for fishing. The study aimed to analyze the density and population structure of Callichirus corruptus on an oil-impacted beach in Pernambuco, in addition to comparing it with previous studies carried out in the area. Collections were carried out in the months of October/2020, December/2020, May/2021, February/2022, June/2022 and August/2022. The population density of C. corruptus on Conceição beach ranged from 0 to 28 ind/m², with an average density of 6.41 ind/m². Altogether 111 individuals were collected, 28 males and 83 females and 29 of them were ovigerous. The sex ratio was significantly biased towards females. Most individuals had an DO length of 10 to 13 mm, with significant differences between the sexes. For CP and LP There were no significant differences between males and females. The average fecundity was 3844.11 eggs. The present study brought new information from the population of Conceição beach and found that the 2019 oil spill may have caused a decrease in the number of individuals in the population. In view of this, we emphasize the importance of this and other studies related to environmental impacts to which burrowing shrimp are susceptible, as well as encouraging the continuity of research with ghost shrimp.Item Pescadores e pescadoras artesanais: impactos socioeconômicos e ambientais do desastre do petróleo em municípios costeiros da Bahia(2021-12-21) Giusti, Juliana Vieira de Melo; Frédou, Flávia Lucena; Ferreira, Beatriz Mesquita Pedrosa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3994459073070495; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4779271407117528; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3625924633830411To assess the impact caused by the oil spill on artisanal fishing in the state of Bahia, a field research was structured a year later, as well as a quantitative research using the Joaquim Nabuco Foundation (Fundaj Foundation) database for the state of Bahia. Altogether 605 fishermen answered the quantitative research questionnaire belonging to ten different municipalities in Bahia and 40 fishermen were interviewed for qualitative research in three communities of Porto Seguro and Prado municipalites, in the Extractive Reserve of Corumbau-BA. From the qualitative and quantitative research, respectively, 34 / 85% fish as their main activity, and 55% and 51.5% have "Registro Geral da Pesca - RGP" (General Registrer of Fishworkers). In addition to the impact on the environment, 38 and 92.4% said that the oil caused damage to fishing areas, the financial loss was cited: 24 declared zero income in the first months and 16 people had a reduction between 50% and 70% of their income. and 86.4% had an average reduction in family income. Problems such as the difficulty in purchasing other components of basic food and the devaluation of fish, with values taking more than a half year to return to market prices, were mentioned. In addition, during the pandemic period, the demand for fish suffered, resulting in a further decrease in price. Right after the disaster, the pandemic led to disarticulation, as many fishermen do not have remote access conditions. The resistance of traditional and environmental peoples was observed. Despite the sequence of impacts, they continued fishing, which should not be a justification for the lack of responsibility and compensatory actions. Health damage needs to be investigated. In addition, environmental and fish health monitoring needs to be carried out on an ongoing basis. It is necessary to listen to the communities, reinforce digital inclusion to facilitate meetings remotely in the pandemic, aiming to resume the articulations that strengthen the management of territories in a participatory and efficient manner.Item Contribuições e limitações de uma intervenção pedagógica sobre a questão sociocientífica derrame de óleo nas praias do Nordeste na alfabetização científica e tecnológica de estudantes(2020-10-01) Farias, Robson Almeida Monteiro de; Firme, Ruth do Nascimento; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7234636790850019; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6038725990836198In this paper we aimed to analyze contributions and limitations of a pedagogical intervention, on the SSI Oil spill on the beaches of the Northeast, in the STL of students in Chemistry Teaching. From this perspective: we analyze STL levels of students; we evaluated the SSI’s characteristics mobilized and identified relationships between the STL levels of students and the SSI’s characteristics mobilized. We developed the research in a state public school located in the municipality of Olinda, Metropolitan Region of Recife, with the participation, on average, of thirty students of a class of the 2nd grade of high school, aged between 14 and 19 years, and we follow theoretical-methodological assumptions of the pedagogical intervention research type. The following methodological steps were developed: planning and development of pedagogical intervention; and data analysis. From the analyses, we highlight as contributions of pedagogical intervention the development of the level of practical STL; the level, in part, of civic STL; and the mobilization of some of the SSI’s characteristics mobilized, such as: approaching students to real situations; contextualization of content; and discussion of different aspects. However, limitations of pedagogical intervention were identified, among which we highlight the fact that the guiding issues did not contribute, for example, to the approach of aspects related to NoSaT, which may have reflected in the fact that we did not identify the development of the level of cultural STL by these students.Item Investigação das modificações químicas de biomarcadores de petróleo submetidos a derrames simulados em ambientes aquáticos(2021-12-15) Oliveira, Milton Neto Nascimento de; Santos, Jandyson Machado; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4137257750865101; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4629247582941612The oil industry characterizes a source of risks to the environment. Studies that aim to understand the chemical modification in oil spill situations are gaining greater attention due to recurrent environmental disasters, such as the one that occurred on the coast of Brazil in 2019. The purpose of this study was to apply a laboratory simulation of oil spills in aquatic environments, to evaluate the chemical changes in composition of oils using the technique of gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and infrared spectroscopy (IR). For the simulations, a homemade system was used that were a chamber with white, blue and ultraviolet lamps, referring to wavelengths like those emitted by solar radiation, where inside was allocated a mixture of oil and seawater 1:80 (m/v), and the oil spill simulation was performed to obtain aliquots of oil at different times of exposure. The oil aliquots were analyzed by GC/MS, in order to obtain a comparative analysis of the initial crude oil (control) and the same oil after the spill exposures, which was possible to evaluate the chemical changes of oil biomarkers and their diagnostic reasons. The chromatograms showed a decrease in the peak areas of the n-alkanes with lower molecular weight in the first hours of exposure to the simulated spill, however, no significant changes were observed in the diagnostic ratios for biomarkers of the sterane and terpane classes, showing that they are classes that do not change chemically. The IR was performed in the spectral range of 600-4000 cm-1, using attenuated total reflectance (ATR). The IR data showed peaks related to the majority chemical composition of crude oils, referring to aliphatic hydrocarbon compounds. It was also possible to identify peaks related to the appearance of new stretching linked to chemical changes associated with the photo-oxidation process that occurred in the spill simulation, referring to peaks for oxygenated compounds, in the region of 1233 cm-1. Thus, the study was able to identify some changes in the chemical composition of crude oils after simulated spills in aquatic environments, as well as to show that the consolidated diagnostic ratios involving terpanes and steranes do not change, and in both cases can be used in studies to track oil spills in environments and/or as data for remediation of environments impacted by spills involving the oil industry.
