    As contribuições da comunicação visual e semiótica para o desenvolvimento do brasão de Gravatá: um estudo de caso

    The objective of this work is to present the use of elements of the arts and visual communication in the development of a city's coat of arms. The images are a reflection of our own view of the world around us. Based on Hervé Thery's reading of Heraldry and its quick language to distinguish friendly troops, Peirce's vision of Semiotics, and his ability to read symbols. The theoretical framework included discussions about the application of the elements of Art and Visual Communication, regarding the understanding and belonging of the meanings of the symbols that represent the city and its inhabitants, as well as data on the city's history, agriculture, architecture with European traits and its political emancipation. The coat of arms developed by the artists: Roberto Wagner and Cleuton Azevedo, followed by Mr. Joaquim Neto de Andrade Silva for presentation to the Mayor, being approved by the same and sent to the City Council, being approved with praise. It was sanctioned and transformed into law No. 3722/2017, as a copy of the documents that follow in Annex 01 and Appendix A. This research has a qualitative and quantitative approach, being a case study of the creation of the coat of arms in 2017 for the city hall of the city of Gravatá, located in the countryside of the State of Pernambuco. The methodological procedures adopted consisted of presenting a research with personalities that are and were part of the city's history for the development of the city's coat of arms and demonstration of the application of visual communication elements in the construction of the aforementioned graphic, advertising and institutional piece. Based on the results and discussions, we present the analysis of the construction of the heraldic symbol collectively, using Visual Communication and semiotics as tools for identifying its contemporaneity.

    Grafite: comunicando a vida em cores e formas

    Communication is one of the means that human beings use to say what they think, what they feel, what they want. To communicate, man has developed strategies such as drawings, writing, symbols and this, with technology, has been increasingly improved. Thus, the general objective of this work is to analyze the visual and communicative impact that graffiti art has on the individual in Brazilian society. The theoretical reference included discussions about an analysis, history and the origin of graffiti in various societies; differentiate the terms of graffiti and graffiti in a theoretical perspective; identify the positive and negative effects of artistic expressions in urban places. The methodological procedures adopted consisted of a qualitative methodology, of an exploratory nature, as bibliographic research was carried out in articles, journals and websites that deal with the subject. The technique used was a semi-structured interview, with a script of questions to interview the graffiti artist and rap artist, known in Caruaru as Nino do Rap. The data obtained indicate that graffiti artists, in Caruaru and region, need greater support so that the dissemination and dissemination of their work take the space of prejudice while gaining space on the walls of the suburbs and urban areas of cities. As there is no depletion of knowledge, this work intends to contribute so that others feel challenged and impelled to seek to investigate more about the issues that involve visual communication through graffiti art.

    O ensino de Artes Visuais como meio de interpretação da gramática visual do cotidiano

    This work aims to analyze the understanding of students about the meanings existing in logos, mass culture, and their influence on our perception of the world from the identification of the relationship between image symbols and art, understanding the art present in logos and punctuating the contributions of images in art education. The theoretical framework includes discussions about the cultural representation of images in everyday life; The importance of reading images in art education for visual language comprehension. The methodological procedures adopted consist of a research with a quantitative and qualitative approach using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument. The research was carried out in a school in the State Network of Pernambuco, and the participants in our research were students from the 1st year of high school. It is expected that the data obtained and the discussions proposed from them will contribute to highlight the relevance of understanding the elements present in the logos, their meaning and their influence on our perception of the world.
