O jornal alternativo "Lampião da Esquina" e o movimento homossexual no contexto da Ditadura Civil-Militar (1978-1981)
(2024-02-26) Araújo, Juliana Rosa; Silva, Marcília Gama da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0090863442089957; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6067880844160514
"Lampião da Esquina" (1978-1981) was a Brazilian newspaper that circulated during the detente of the Civil-Military Dictatorship, focusing on the discussion of homosexuality. This work aims to analyze and reflect on the periodical and its discursive production, questioning what it reveals about the homosexual movement at the time of its production. From this perspective, it understands it as a collective act of "capture of speech" by Brazilian homosexuals, a concept that expresses a symbolic revolution led by a group seeking to integrate into the public and political space but lacking the necessary reflective foundations. Firstly, the work discusses the relationship between the Dictatorship and homosexuality, analyzing how the regime restricts the forms of sociability and visibility of this emerging subculture, making the dictatorial opening a favorable moment for the rise of this collective, also driven by a broader context of politicization of identity and homosexual organization. Next, it analyzes how the positive, intellectualized, and politicized perspective of the newspaper stands out in the media context of the time, marked by disqualifying discourses about homosexuality. Finally, recurring themes on the covers of "Lampião da Esquina" were selected - from editions available in the digital archive CEDOC - Centro de Documentação Prof Dr Luiz Mott - that effectively expressed the collective organization and symbolic revolution by Brazilian homosexuals. Through a textual-discursive analysis of the selected texts, it was concluded that the pages of the periodical are marked by the tensioning of conflicting perspectives, indicating its role in identity and political construction and discussion, not mere dissemination of a pre-established discourse. Thus, "Lampião da Esquina" is understood as an alternative media that sought to open a space for discussion for multiple agents and previously silenced discourses, serving as a valuable source to highlight and remember the historical struggle of dissident sexualities and their creative and revolutionary potential.

Modalização e ideologia no discurso homofóbico pentecostal
(2020-10-21) Silva, Lucas Henrique da; Borba, Vicentina Maria Ramires; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4023907282886164; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8477450401983633
This paper addresses to discrimination against homosexuals inculcated in a religious preaching of Pentecostal denomination. It problematizes discursive instruments used by religious to purge people of dissident sexuality. This research had as main objective to demonstrate that the so called preaching carries mechanisms that generate beliefs and attitudes resulting from inconsistencies regarding the very origin of the Pentecostal religious aspect. Therefore, we sought to: unveil sacred foundations that, supposedly, give rise to the formation of discriminatory discourse; identify, in evangelizing speech, how modalization reveals discrimination; prospect harmful ideological effects of this social practice on the basic rights of homosexuals. This research was based on the studies of Fairclough (2016), Van Dijk (2008) and Thompson (1990), regarding the notions of discourse and modalization, power and ideology. The methodology comprised deductive reasoning, unfolded in an applied research, having as investigation techniques the collection and transcription of the corpus and the examination of the category modalization and its ideological effects in this text. This work is relevant for applying a theoretical discursive-critical framework to an unprecedented analysis material, religious preaching. Socially, it contributes to the awareness of asymmetric relationships, discursively established, in front of minority groups. As a result, an inconsistency in the interpretation of the biblical foundations regarding the origin of the Pentecostal doctrine was revealed: the preaching analyzed, contradictory to what the Christian doctrine defends, is more supported by Jewish orientations, contained in the first 5 books of the Old Testament, than those included in the New Testament, which records Jesus teachings, a Christian prophet, confirming the hypothesis defended here.

This article addresses the theme of homosexuality in the news of the newspaper Diário de Pernambuco in the 1970s. How did the construction of gay identity, stigma and social prejudice about homosexuality take place at that time? What were the legal regulations and the information network against homosexuals? A case study was undertaken on how the news from the 1st Congress of Homosexuals, in Caruaru, reverberated in the capital. The methodology used seeks to intertwine the existing studies on homosexuality with historical sources of newspapers of the time. The aim is to analyze the different institutional and social strategies that underlie repression and discrimination against homosexuals and their culture.
