The CSI was carried out at the “CITEquin - Hospital de Cavalos de Paudalho”, in the equine medical and surgical clinic area, from August 17, 2020 to October 30, 2020, totaling 420 hours. CITEquin is a private hospital that mainly serves equines with 24-hour services and hospitalization. The routine started at 07:00, in which the clinical examination and medication of the hospitalized animals was carried out, each patient had a respective record in which all relevant information is noted. It was followed up 39 cases during the CSI, of which this report highlighted septic arthritis in the left femorotibiapatelar joint in a Quarter Horse female foal. The multimodal treatment was adopted using local and systemic antibiotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, joint lavage and local infiltration. They were important for the cure. The Meropeném medicine had an effective response at the end treatment. The CSI´s experience was important for the consolidation of theoretical knowledge acquired throughout the course and during the training period, in addition to enabling the routine experience of a veterinarian at a Horse Hospital and who also performs field visits.
