Item Relatório de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório (ESO): acompanhamento da rotina clínico-cirúrgica na Clínica CORe - Oncologia Veterinária(2020-12-16) Ferreira, Maria Islane Araújo; Silva, Ellen Cordeiro Bento da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4626343121504409; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7416766519843144The Mandatory Supervised Internship (ESO) of the undergraduate course in Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, by the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), was carried out under the guidance of Profª. Drª. Ellen Cordeiro Bento da Silva, by student Maria Islane Araújo Ferreira. The same was carried out at the Veterinary Clinic CORe - Veterinary Oncology, located in the neighborhood of Rosarinho, Recife - PE, from August 17, 2020 to October 30, 2020, under the supervision of Veterinary Oncologist Maria Cecília Oliveira Nascimento, totaling 420 hours. Thus, this report, corresponding to the Course Conclusion Work, includes the description of the internship location, characterizing the physical structure, personnel, the infrastructure of the internship location and its functioning, description of the activities carried out and the clinical cases followed, as well as an article in the case report format. The latter consists of the description of an experience lived during the internship, corresponding to a carcinoma in the thyroid gland, which was given greater focus in the report. From the above, it can be seen that ESO is an indispensable activity for the training of undergraduate students, which allows the professional on the verge to confirm or modify the desired area of practice, through practical experience, so that for the case there was the confirmation of the desire to work with a veterinary oncologist. In turn, in relation to the accompanied case, it is concluded that theireoidectomy is the treatment of choice for thyroid carcinoma, despite the risk of metastasis and hypothyroidism.Item Relatório de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório (ESO), efeitos da Cannabis sativa na qualidade de vida do paciente oncológico: relato de caso(2021-12-20) Pedrosa, Maria Gabriela de Souza; Silva Júnior, Valdemiro Amaro da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9776641299895749; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5226450782444324The Mandatory Supervised Internship is part of the program of the Veterinary Medicine course at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco and is held in the 11th semester, the last graduation period. At ESO, undergraduates have the opportunity to experience the practice in the area of their choice, adding new knowledge and getting closer to the professional reality of the working veterinarian. This study aimed to describe the activities developed during the 420 hours of ESO workload that was carried out from 08/30/2021 to 11/16/2021 under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Valdemiro Amaro da Silva Junior. The internship was carried out in the area of clinical medicine applied to the use of medicinal Cannabis at the Centro Veterinário Cãopagnone (CVC) located in the city of Bertioga, state of São Paulo, and was supervised by the veterinary doctor and clinical director, Caroline Campagnone. During the internship, it was possible to witness the search for tutors to improve the quality of life of their animals and alternative treatments for various pathologies. Cannabis sativa, in most cases, is an option with satisfactory results and can be associated with different therapies. Twenty-five new patients, among dogs and cats, where most included the Full Spectrum oil of Cannabis sativa in their treatment, being followed up to monitor the case. Among these patients, cancer patients had a good response in terms of mood, appetite, analgesia and delay in the worsening of metastatic conditions, sometimes changing the established prognosis. For this reason, we chose to report the case of a canine patient with transitional cell carcinoma in the bladder with liver metastasis and abdominal implantation whose treatment includes the use of Full Spectrum oil of Cannabis sativa. The writing of this report made it possible to describe the activities carried out during the internship, as well as to expand knowledge about the use of medicinal Cannabis and disseminate information based on scientific studies and clinical practice.
