The Mandatory Supervised Internship (ESO), a mandatory subject of the Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), has a workload of 420 hours and can be characterized as a professional qualification activity for the student in the last period of the course, applying their acquired knowledge and qualifying them for professional practice. This report is divided into two chapters. The first chapter describes all the activities that were monitored during the ESO period by the student, between the period of April 1, 2024 to June 14, 2024, at the Caminho dos Bichos Veterinary Clinic, located in the Espinheiro neighborhood, Recife/PE. The second chapter will report the case of a domestic feline that underwent anesthesia and surgery called cholecystectomy, in which the ultrasound-guided locoregional blockade of the quadratus lumborum (QL) was performed, using the combination of bupivacaine (local anesthetic), dexmedetomidine (alpha 2 agonist) and dexamethasone (corticosteroid). Locoregional anesthesia has been widely used in veterinary medicine, as it allows the reduction of general anesthetics for a favorable intraoperative period, in addition to reducing the use of analgesics in the postoperative period and their side effects. In this reported case, according to the monitored parameters, no pain was observed, as assessed by the UNESP-Botucatu multidimensional scale. Ultrasonography ensured that the technique was performed successfully, anatomically identifying the muscles. Thus, the blockade can be performed safely, being effective for celiotomy and cholecystectomy.

The Mandatory Supervised Internship (ESO), a mandatory subject of the last period of the Undergraduate course in Veterinary Medicine at UFRPE, was carried out accompanying the Veterinary Doctor (M.V.) MSc Thaygo Marçal da Mota at several clinics in the Metropolitan Region of Recife in the period 02/ 10/2023 to 01/19/2024, from Monday to Friday, totaling 420 hours. During the ESO period there was guidance from Prof. Dr. Moacir Bezerra de Andrade, associate professor at UFRPE. ESO offers students the autonomy to choose to intern in which area they want to work in when they graduate, or which they feel more affinity with, or also to try out a new area in which they did not have as many opportunities during their degree. Therefore, the objective of this work was to report the activities carried out during ESO, as well as to describe a technique for anesthetic blockade of the auriculotemporal, caudal auricular and greater auricular nerves with the aid of the neurolocalizer and the ultrasound device, in an animal that underwent an ear pinna otohematoma correction procedure, aiming for greater trans-surgical and immediate post-surgical comfort for the patient and greater safety during the procedure. The patient was monitored throughout the procedure, as well as the effectiveness of the anesthetic block. It is concluded that these types of associated techniques are extremely effective and safe, generating good results during and after surgery, with the animal waking up calmly without signs of pain.

(2019-12-11) Santos, Joana Luiza Crispiniano Cunha; Tenório, Ana Paula Monteiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1785548386077618; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6063725332167306
The Compulsory Supervised Internship corresponds to a compulsory subject that belongs the curriculum of the Veterinary Medicine Course of the Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco. The internship must be carried out in up to two areas of veterinary medicine, and the student must complete a compulsory workload of 420 hours. From the completion of the supervised internship in the area in which it is intended to act, the student is allowed to experience practical experiences, in which apply the knowledge acquired during graduation. This work is a partial requirement to obtain a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine degree, and was carried out under the guidance of PhD. Ana Paula Monteiro Tenório. The first part of this work describes the activities developed in the area of Veterinary Anesthesiology of the Hospital de Medicina Veterinária da Universidade Federal da Bahia (Salvador-BA) and Hospital Veterinário Pet Dream (Recife-PE) from august to november of 2019, and in the second part a case report accompanied during the internship, referring to the use of the neurolocalizer in locoregional block of the sciatic and femoral nerves.
