The internship took place in the diagnostic imaging area at the company Focus Diagnóstico Veterinário, a unit located on Avenida Agamenon Magalhães, in Recife-PE, and took place between July 01 and September 15, 2022, under the supervision of the veterinarian Thaiza Helena. During the ESO, it was possible to monitor and assist in the performance of imaging tests, such as ultrasound, radiography, echocardiogram, electrocardiogram, surgical risk, digestive endoscopy and respiratory endoscopy and in the preparation of their respective reports. A scientific article was prepared, this presents data obtained from radiographic studies performed on healthy caracaras for cardiological evaluation.Item Relatório de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório realizado no Centro de Triagem e Reabilitação de Animais Silvestres de Pernambuco (CETRAS Tangara), Recife - PE. Ocorrência de trombiculídeos concomitante à hemosporidiose em corujinha-da-mata (Megascops choliba) - Relato de caso(2022-05-24) Nascimento, Gleyce Silva do; Mota, Rinaldo Aparecido; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8378380401850485; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3588945036020711Hemosporidia are a group of hemoprotozoa, known mainly for including the agents of malaria, a disease with great relevance in one health. Haemoproteus is one of the most important representatives of the hemosporidia group, affecting birds and reptiles, being cited as pseudomalaria. Thrombiculid is the popular name of the larval stage of chigger mites of the family Trombiculidaes. Chiggers species in this group parasitize vertebrates and often cause a cutaneous reaction in the host, known as thrombiculiasis. A tropical screech-owl (Megascops choliba) was treated at the Clinic of the Center for Triage and Rehabilitation of Wild Animals of Pernambuco (CETRAS - Tangara), presenting apathy, dry dermis and reddish ectoparasites parasitizing the bird. In the parasitological analysis, it was found that the mite present in the tropical screech-owl was a trombiculid. The hematological analysis showed anemia, leukocytosis due to heterophilia and increased plasma proteins. In the blood smear, it was possible to identify the presence of Haemoproteus sp. infecting red blood cells. The animal was submitted to the use of fipronil and the therapeutic protocol with chloroquine. The present case-report contributes with important information about these ecological interactions, pointing out the concomitant parasitism in Megascops choliba, serving as an alert for the need for further investigations regarding these interactions in raptors from the Northeastern Atlantic Forest, as well as the possible consequences of these interactions in terms of One Health.
