Innovative techniques and treatments have made possible great advances in veterinary medicine, the affective relationship that man has developed since the beginning with domestic animals, thus increasing their life expectancy. As far as diagnoses are concerned, significant progress has been achieved by providing the veterinarian with resources that he has not had in the past, enabling a more accurate diagnosis. The compulsory Supervised Internship (ESO), under the guidance of Dr. Andrea Alice da Fonseca Oliveira, is a fundamental component for the conclusion and obtaining of the Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. The paper reports the case of a 10-year-old male dog diagnosed with Pericardial Effusion and Lymphoma. The internship was held at the Focus - Veterinary Diagnostic Center, which was chosen at the 4 Patas Veterinary Clinic in Olinda-PE, from April 18 to July 27, 2018, for 420 hours. Focus provides several diagnostic imaging services, such as computed tomography, endoscopy, ultrasound, digital radiography, among others. The experience of daily practice allowed by ESO promoted the enrichment of theoretical-practical knowledge seen within the academy, allowing to improve the direct training of the trainee.
