Item Relatório do Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório (ESO) realizado no Hospital Veterinário Pet Dream localizado em Recife - PE, Brasil. Prostatectomia total para exérese de adenocarcinoma em cão - Relato de caso(2020-10-15) Oliveira, Maria Clara Cunha Paranhos de; Cavalcanti, Grazielle Anahy de Sousa Aleixo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3165940085830406; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9929829387508607The Compulsory Supervised Internship (ESO), carried out to complete the Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine, was developed at the PetDream Veterinary Hospital, in the Veterinary Surgical Clinic department, under the guidance of Dr. Grazielle Anahy de Sousa Aleixo and supervision of the surgeon Dr. Edson Vilela de Melo Filho, totaling a workload of 420 hours. This report aims to explain the activities carried out during the internship, emphasizing the importance of the routine in which the student, and future veterinarian, will witness in his profession. Among the surgical procedures followed, a patient who underwent total prostatectomy was selected for this monograph. The animal was a 10-year-old neutered canine, whose main clinical sign was polyuria and urinary incontinence. After carrying out complementary exams, the cytology being suggestive of prostatic adenocarcinoma, and the cancer staging being negative for signs of metastasis, the patient was referred for surgery, in order to perform total prostatectomy for excision of the nodule. The surgical procedure used proved to be effective, since it was possible to perform all nodular resection and there were few post-surgical complications, thus guaranteeing the animal's quality of life. The realization of the ESO made it possible to put into practice the theoretical learning taught during graduation, contributing significantly to the professional development and training the future Veterinarian for the job market, being, therefore, a step of fundamental importance for the conclusion of the Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine.
