For the development of the work was carried out a research with the participation of Training Centers of vaquejada so questionnaires were applied to breeders and trainers, with questions directed the training techniques of the animals during the period from October to December in the state of Pernambuco. Thus, we evaluate the daily training activities, verifying if the trainer is aware of the rules of well being applied in these techniques and seeing the effect that this training exerts on these horses. With this, we demonstrate the work relationships that exist in this activity, with specific horses for the practice of exercises for vaquejada competitions. Faced with this expansion in more detail, we did a study on the different types of training in the state of Pernambuco competitors of vaquejada of the quarter mile race that are the most indicated, today for the sport. This work demonstrated that the Cowboys Horses deserve more attention from their breeders.Item Avaliação do perfil morfométrico de cavalos da raça Quarto de Milha de Vaquejada(2018-08-24) Santos, Vinícius Henrique da Silva; Manso Filho, Hélio Cordeiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5631206025493479The Vaquejadais a genuine northeastern equestrian sport, of centenary origin, due to the cattle breeding in the Sertão.In this sport, Quarter Horse stands out for being an animal of temperament docile and extremely fast in races of short distances, comprising about ninety percent of the animals used in a competition. With the increase of the popularity of the Vaquejada, there was a greater search for animals that stood out in the tests, that is, of superior genetics and for that, crossings were thrown, turned only for the genealogy.Biometrics is intended to aid in the breeding programs, definition of racial pattern, identification of defects, as well as the selection of specific abilities that the animal will perform, since equine morphology correlates with function. The objective of this work was to evaluate the biometry of Quarter Horse animals used in the sport of Vaquejada. A total of 45 animals were evaluated. 12 equines of Pull in Training (PTr), 22 equines of Pull in competition (PCom) and 11 equines ofhelper (E). Data were collected from 10 linear measures, in addition to body mass. The data were submitted to analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the means were compared by the Tukey test, with significance level of 5%. SigmaPlot 13.0 was used for windows in all statistical analyzes. Significant measurement (P <0.05) for height of the withers, croup height, body length, croup length, thoracic perimeter, breast width, in addition to the body mass, being the values found superior in the pull animals compared to the helper. The results showed that the Vaquejadahorses have different biometrics because they perform different functions. This information can contribute to guide which function the animal will play in the sport, as well as its training.Item Índice de escore corporal em cavalos de trabalho e atletas(2018-08-24) Oliveira, Virgínia Theodora Brito Marques de; Manso, Helena Emília Cavalcanti da Costa Cordeiro; Manso Filho, Hélio Cordeiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5631206025493479; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7040279344981888; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1481178969488295The objective of this study was to evaluate the body condition score index in work horses and athletes, in order to know if there is difference in body scores between physical activity categories. Data were collected in the months of May and June of 2018. Fifty animals of both sexes were evaluated in the age group from 3 to 16 years and that they were performing physical activities regularly. Being: 27 working horses (traction); 23 service horses (PMPE cavalry); 41 horsepower; 31 horses of vaquejada; and, 28 racing horses. The evaluation of the corporal score was performed according to the methodology established by Henneke et al. (1983) established 6 areas of palpation and visualization in the body to determine fat deposition and nutritional status on the scale from 1 to 9. The cowherd animals had a higher body score than those of running and work, and a similar result to gait and service. Although the animals begin to deposit fat when they reach adulthood, there was no difference between the age groups <5, between 5 and 10, and> 10 years. The mean body score of the female animals (~ 4.91) was higher than the mean male (~ 4.67). The males were similar in relation to the physical activity, the values were similar for those of vaquejada (with higher value ~ 5,10), gait, running and service, and the lowest score was observed in working males (~ 3.87). When the females with the same parameter were evaluated, the ones with the lowest value were those of running (~ 4.25) with approximate results to the work (~ 4.50), and there was no difference among the cowherd females, which presented higher scores (~ 5.27) and those of service, walking and work. When males and females were evaluated for physical activity, males had a higher score (~ 4.85) than females (~ 4.25), and females (~ 4.50) larger than males (~ 3.87). For all other categories, no differences were observed. ECC evaluation remains a valid method for indicating the nutritional level of the animal. The results show that there is interaction between body condition score and physical activity category performed by horses.Item Efeito de diferentes alimentos sobre a curva de glicose em equinos sadios(2018-08-24) Trindade, Keity Laiane Gomes; Manso Filho, Hélio Cordeiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5631206025493479; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6037518474506684Currently, there is a wide variety of new components used in the formulation of equine diet; however, some foods are still kept, mainly for work animals, by tradition or culture in various regions of the country. This work aimed to evaluate the glycemic curve of five different foods commonly provided for equines. Five adult equines were used, in maintenance, body score 4.5 in a scale of 9, distributed in a factorial with 5 horses and 5 foods (wet corn grain, wet corn grain plus common salt (50g), pelleted alfalfa, extruded corn, extruded rice), and with an interval of 4 days between each test. On the test day, they were isocalorically supplemented (3.0 Mcal/animal) and blood samples were obtained after 12h of fasting and post-feeding in the following periods: +30, +60, +90, +120, +180, +240 minutes. The samples were used for determination of glucose and total plasma proteins (TPP). The results were submitted to ANOVA and Tukey's test. The results indicated differences between the treatments (p <0.05) and between the blood collection phases (p <0.05), but without significant interaction for glucose and for TPP. The highest increase in TPP was alfalfa (8.10 mg/dL) and wet corn with salt (7.90 mg/dL), both with a peak at + 30 min, but without differences between them (p> 0.05). The highest glucose variation occurred with extruded corn, with a peak at + 120 min (145 mg/dL). Evaluating the phases, regardless of the treatments, it was observed that the TPP peak occurred at + 30 min (~7.65 mg/dL) and for glucose was + 120 min (~ 131.3 mg/dL). Thus, it is possible to assert that both alfalfa and corn with salt apparently promote a large displacement of liquids to the intestines by raising TPP and extruded corn is the most glycemic food. It is concluded that different foods produce different glycemic curves, with the pelleted alfalfa producing the smallest curve and the extruded corn producing the largest. Therefore, all food must be properly studied and tested for its metabolic function in order to use it in the most appropriate way and that contributes to the animals’ health.Item Avaliação das condições higiênico-sanitárias e da qualidade do pescado nos mercados públicos localizados no município de Recife(2019-12-03) Cavalcanti, Thays Carneiro de Araújo; Souza, Andreia Fernandes de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6354486109796073; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7435312596648339The present work aims to analyze and evaluate the hygienic-sanitary conditions of the fish trading boxes in the main public markets of Recife-PE through visual inspection and data collection through checklists and questionnaires, identifying possible risks to public health. six public markets and a free fair were visited in the city of Recife-PE, in a total of 14 fish boxes. The aspects related to the hygiene and sanitary conditions of the establishments were observed, followed by equipment, utensils and handlers, presence of pests. and animals, as well as the mode of conservation and storage of the products that were exposed for sale. The checklists were prepared based on RDC Resolution No. 216 of September 15, 2004 by the National Health Surveillance Agency, containing a total of 17 questions grouped into 3 sections: 1- Hygiene of market facilities and equipment; 2- Hygiene of the handlers; 3- Quality of fish storage and exposure. The profile of consumers who frequent and buy products at the site was composed of five questions, identifying gender, age, education, frequency of going to the market and finally the reason to buy fish locally, in total were 102 interviewed. After verifying the results, 43% of the employees had clothing according to the activity, it was found that 100% of the boxes had cold chain or storage equipment, but major non-conformities were found in section 2, where only 40 % of the boxes attended requirements. In the constumers questionnaires 53.93 % were women, and most consumers (54, 91%) were in the age group of over 50 years. Most buyers bought fish from the markets because they were closer to their home and visited the market at least once a week. It is concluded that despite the hygienic-sanitary problems in fairs and markets, one of the biggest causes that can interfere with the quality of fish is the mishandling of food by employees and traders in public markets.Item Monitoramento do comportamento e uso do recinto de papagaio-verdadeiro (Amazona aestiva) no Zoológico Estadual de Dois Irmãos(2019-12-02) Rodolfo, Roberta de Andrade; Lima, Tayara Soares de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3100045021780173; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6139356578381236The Turquoise-fronted amazon (Amazona aestiva) is one of the most purchased animals for the company of man, although not endangered, is one of the most smuggled animals. This entails various apprehensions from environmental agencies and as a result they are destined for captivity in different locations such as zoos, shrines and sorting centers, as most cannot return to nature. For this reason, it is important to promote welfare for these animals, as this way, there is better quality of life for the animals and consequently, more health. With this in mind, the monitoring was carried out at the Dois Irmãos State Park (PEDI), with five adult parrots (3 females and 2 males) weighing 400g, healthy, adult, belonging to PEDI, from donations and seizures. The animals were housed in a 28.2m² and 2.80m high enclosure. The monitoring period was 23 days, being the first seven days for adaptation of the animals to the evaluators and sampling, and the other days for experimental data collection. Sampling was performed by the ad libitum method at alternate times totaling 28 hours of registration. The behaviors raised in the sampling were used to elaborate the etogram, categorized as: animal interaction to the enclosure, social interaction, maintenance and displacement behaviors. The discontinuous recording method of the animals was the instantaneous scanning method, used for 16 days, totaling 128 hours of registration and 1568 events. To analyze the environment, it was taken into account the space that the animals occupied in the enclosure, being the enclosure divided into four quadrants of imaginary lines. Statistical analysis was performed by calculating the percentage of mean time spent by animals in each quadrant and behaviors, using the Excel program, the parrots remained in active state at 42% of frequency and used the QC2 quadrant at 44% of frequency. The environmental enrichments indicated were physical, cognitive and dietary in the morning and in the quadrants QA2, QB1, QB2, QD1 and QD2.Item Avaliação da composição bromatológica de rações secas para cães comercializadas à granel em Recife(2019-12-02) Pinto, Maysa Queiroz; Nascimento, Júlio Cézar dos Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4343017315156292; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8500329329793563The pet market has grown a lot over the last few years, this growth has been happening in Brazil and worldwide. In 2014, the pet market accounted for 0.38% of the national GDP, earning around 16.7 billion reais in the country, thus demonstrating a great importance in the domestic market. Feed quality must be guaranteed even after leaving the factory, and supervision and instruction on how to proceed should be ensured. Ten samples of rations from different brands were collected in various neighborhoods of the city of Recife and analyzes of MS, MM, EE, PB and FB were made to compare with the label information of the rations. All rations gave changes on their protein, some rations the protein only reached the minimum indicated. Thus, it can be concluded that product exposure causes changes in quality.Item Demografia e estrutura populacional da raça caprina Moxóto com base em análise de pedigree(2019-12-12) Silva, Raíssa Camila da; Ribeiro, Maria Norma; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3643578234373660; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4420581591960235Among the several locally adapted genetic groups of goats from Northeast of Brazil, the Moxotó breed stands out. Despite its importance, the breed has been suffering a genetic dilution and, consequently, its currently considered as endangered. An important factor to understand the existing genetic variability is the study of demography and populational structure, which allows the determination of the level of risk of the breed. The definition of the degree of endangerment of a breed is essential for the definition of efficient genetic enhancement and conservation programs. The present study aimed to evaluate the demography and populational structure of Moxotó breed using the pedigree analysis. Were used information from 571 animals, from 5 herds. The data collection was done between 1981 and 2007. Were estimated the endogamy (ΔF), average kinship coefficient (AR), effective number of founder animals ( ), effective number of ancestors ( ), Wright’s F-statistics (Fis, Fit e Fst), the genetic contribution of the herds and the generation intervals (IEG). The statistical analysis was done with the support of Endog® v4.8 software. It was observed a value of 31 for , close to the value of (36). From the total pedigree information, only 15,76% had information about the father and, 15,41% had information about the mother. Due to the amount of incomplete information on the pedigree it was not possible to calculate the average inbreeding coefficient (F) for the population nor for generations. A significantly low value of ancestors (N=12) explain 50% of the genetic variability of the population. The Fit value (-0,001483) indicates the presence of genetic variability in the population. The Fst value (0,004396) indicates the existence of genetic diversity among subpopulations. The -0,005905 of FIS indicates the existence of genetic variability inside the population. Despite the reduced effective number, there is still genetic diversity inter and intra-population that can be used by genetic conservation and genetic enhancement programs. Under this conditions, programs of genetic enhancement should be avoided until the effective numbers are fully recovered.Item Uso dos cinco domínios para avaliar o bem-estar de equinos(2019-12-06) Atroch, Thayná Milano Assis; Hunka, Mônica Miranda; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1815463974122207; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9994140013467223The vast majority of horses bred in the state of Pernambuco are subjected to confinement, generally living in individual stalls where they spend most of their time and therefore deprived of their natural eating and social behavior. This situation endangers the physical and mental health of these animals, since by their nature they are free-living animals, having exploratory behavior throughout the day. Thus, it is very common for the animal welfare of horses to be easily compromised when they are confined. With frequent concern about animal welfare, the Model of Five Domains of Animal Welfare came up with the objective of evaluating animal welfare respecting their physiological aspects, being done in a complete, systematic and comprehensive manner. In this context, the objective of the study was to quantitatively evaluate the welfare status of several properties in the state of Pernambuco. To this end, an assessment sheet was made using the Practical Guide to Equine Welfare as a basis, where it is possible to measure animal welfare on a scale from extremely positive to extremely negative. Then, visits were made to 17 properties in the Metropolitan Region, Zona da Mata and Agreste of Pernambuco, where all topics of the Five Domains were observed and the welfare status of the animals was determined. From the results it was observed that generally, in all properties, the Five Domains achieved welfare status "A". However, quantitatively evaluating each domain, it was noted that some aspects received greater attention in their evaluations, such as environmental conditioning, varied diet and exploratory behavior of animals. For such, some management practices were highlighted, capable of providing a positive balance for the domains. With the work, it was possible to conclude that the Welfare Assessment Sheet is a practical and effective way to evaluate the animal welfare in the properties, and it was found that the evaluated properties meet the good welfare practices. being animal. It is pertinent that in the future, educational booklets will be developed that will give breeders the opportunity to know and adopt new management practices in order to further maximize the quality of life of their animals.
