Item Piometra aberta em cadela da raça Rottweiler: relato de caso(2019-12-14) Alves, Chalanna Gonçalves; Coutinho, Tania Alen; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1916619528141219; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4727247803495482The pyometra complex is a relatively common disturb present on the routine of the clinical veterinarian. Known as a diestrus phase disease due to its closed relationship to high progesterone levels, this disease can occur at any stage of the female estrous cycle. It affects around 25 % of unneutered female dogs up to 10 years of age, and breeds as Bernese Mountain Dog, Great Dane and Rottweiler are predisposed to. Treatment of choice is sterilization of the patient, allowing direct removal of the source of infection and preventing relapses. However, drug treatment also becomes an option when the animal has a reproductive function. The prognosis tends to be good to reserved when the disease is diagnosed early, nevertheless, pyometra can be rapidly aggravated, compromising other systems and evolving to death. Given the frequent occurrence of pyometra in the small animals medical clinic, the aim of this concluding course monograph was to review the theme and report a case of open pyometra in a two-year-old, female Rottweiler, whose clinical control was surgical.
