Item Hip hop: a contribuição dos rappers evangélicos da cidade de Recife-PE na ressignificação do sagrado e do profano(2018) Bezerra, Erasmo Ribeiro; Silva, Maria Auxiliadora Gonçalves da; Aquino, Rosa Maria de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7663893470581900; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1540473468896261; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0344988958733571The evangelical religious field has been presenting significant changes in this postmodern world and with this the understanding about the sacred and the profane adapts according to the religious demand of the different evangelical trends. Within this context, evangelical music underwent several transformations so that, as time passed, it became increasingly heterogeneous. This work sought to understand how and when hip-hop culture was assimilated by the evangelical field in the city of Recife - PE, breaking with the borders between the sacred and the profane, in order to convert young people. The subjects of the research were three rappers from Recife. The qualitative methodology was applied with recorded interviews and non-participant observation of the artistic performances by the three artists. After analyzing the history and characteristics of the re-signified hip-hop, that was renamed as gospel hip-hop, as well as after studying its relationship with the sacred and the secular spaces, we concluded that the sacralization of this musical genre was more successful among the young audiences of less conservative churches and it was made possible by the role of some evangelical churches and the religious consumer market that sought to legitimize hip-hop for religious purposes. Yet, this process has faced resistance and is still being resisted by many of the more conservative evangelicals.
