Item Políticas públicas nos assentamentos do Incra: o caso do peixamento nos assentamentos Concórdia Santa Cruz e Engenho Velho I(2018) Rodrigues, Danielly Andrade de Moura; Xavier, Maria Gilca Pinto; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6470044940848558This study aims to evaluate the implementation of public policies from the Agrarian Reform Program. The description of results is a case study on fish farming and its relation to income in settlements of family farmers. The activity of fish farming has been relatively successful in Northeast agriculture, especially evidencing an improvement in family income and also in the nutritional status of these families. In order to do so, we describe the public policies coming from the federal and state spheres that provided or encouraged this new complementary activity, such as financial incentive policies for fishings. This last one concerns a policy destined to populate rivers, dams and masonry tanks with fry of the most commercialized species on the market, are: Tilapia, Carp and Tambaqui. As a case study, the concordia / santa cruz and old engenho I settlements were selected, in the city of São Lourenço da Mata, in the Zona da Mata area of Pernambuco, where interviews were made with the settlers who worked with fish farming, in 2018. Based on the information collected, it was found that the state and federal public policies were not determinant factors for settlers to introduce pisciculture as an activity complementary to income, since the absence of the same at the place searched was verified. Moreover, it was possible to verify that this activity became the main source of their income and no longer to complement. It was also concluded that the dynamics in the settlements consisted of three important points: a) The concession of lots for the families; b) The implementation of fish farming autonomously by the settlers and finally c) It was evident the profitability of fish farming for family income.
