The present work aims to analyze the authoritarianism and judicial repression to the communists during the time course of the called first Vargas government (1930-1945) leading from the National Security Court (TSN) experience. However, the time frame approached is directed to the years of 1936 and 1937 when, after an attempt of armed coup leaded by the Aliança Nacional Libertadora(ALN), the judicial repression against the bolshevik doutrine is intesified. In this sense, has sought to compreend the formation of the repressive apparatus from the dictatorial project of the Estado Novo in the Especial Justice scope. Therefore, has been mobilized the notion of idelogical crime in Marcília Gama Silva (2007) and of national security in order to uderstand the politcal motivations, the modus operandi, and the TSN role.

A Casa do Estudante do Império (CEI) e a poesia nas lutas anticoloniais (1944 – 1965)
(2019-01-18) Lima, Matheus Henrique da Silva; Silva, Giselda Brito; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2327404253426354; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5242883424192013
In view of the historiographical discussions, based on the New Political and Cultural History, about the contributions of literature as a source for aid in the construction of the history of certain societies, the present study aims to present the Home of the Students of the Empire (CEI) (1944-1965) and the poetry notebooks, until then condensed in the collection "Autores Ultramarinos", produced within the association, as spaces of information, resistance, awareness and hope before the cultural, economic and political fractures driven by the presence of the colonizer, especially in Lusophone Africa. Thereby, we seek to know, analyze and historicize the Home of the Students of the Empire, as well as the profile of its members, identifying in the literary productions contained in the collection the main criticisms to colonial actions, discussions about an identity, revaluation of cultural aspects of possessions and notes related to the desire to disengage from the Portuguese domain. Thus, the study was done through the reading and analysis of documents produced within the institution, available in the digital collection of Mário Soares Foundation (FMS), Union of Capital Cities of Portuguese Language (UCCLA) and bibliographical references, among theses, dissertations, articles and books that contribute to the discussion of the importance of Portuguese-language African literary productions as a space to generate new visions about the internal conflicts and subsequently the history of these countries during the second half of the 20th century. Therefore, the present study seeks to contribute to the elaboration of a contrasting mosaic to the discourses disseminated by the colonizer, which are still present in a certain way in many spheres of knowledge related to the African continent.

    “Educar-nos a nós próprios”: a pedagogia anticolonial as Escolas-Piloto do P.A.I.G.C. (1950 -1979)
(2025-01-29) Santos, Letícia Maria Torres Melo dos; Silva, Giselda Brito; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2327404253426354; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1550315608408255
This article addresses the anticolonial pedagogy of the Pilot Schools, created within the scope of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde (P.A.I.G.C), during the period of the struggle for independence and afterwards. The objective of this work is to situate the profile of Amílcar Cabral, as the founder of P.A.I.G.C. We also seek to highlight the contribution of Paulo Freire and Mário de Andrade to the anticolonial education project proposed by Amílcar Cabral, indicating their places of dialogue with Amílcar Cabral and with the Pilot Schools project. The goal is to indicate how these dialogues were important for the “Pilot Schools” during the process of anticolonial struggles, identifying the pedagogical thinking of Amílcar Cabral and of those who most collaborated with his pedagogical project for the formation of a historical consciousness focused on colonial liberation. To this end, we sought to demonstrate how these Schools represented a counterpoint to the colonial educational policy implemented by the colonizers, using program documents produced by the P.A.I.G.C on educational policy during the liberation process and documents that deal with the presence of Freire's Method and the participation of Mário de Andrade in the pedagogical project of the Schools.

This historiographical work aims to analyze the "fake news phenomenon" and its correlations with the rise of the Far-Right on the Internet, highlighting the need to examine the role of education, especially in the context of History, in combating disinformation and safeguarding the democratic regime in our society, focusing on the period from 2016 to 2022. In the context of the rise of extremism and scientific denialism, it is necessary to understand how and why historical narratives are being manipulated to influence collective and individual consciences through Cyberspace for political purposes. In light of this, this essay seeks to recommend "Educommunication," from the perspective of Ismar de Oliveira Santos (2011), as a field of knowledge capable of aiding in the fight against the denialist landscape through an approach that reviews teaching practices and implements a new educational praxis based on democratic dialogue, the inclusion of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in schools, and the development of projects that stimulate media and information literacy among students. It is expected that this bibliographic review will contribute to finding solutions for combating historical denialism and revisionism, reclaiming the protagonism of History education in identity formation and citizenship building, and avoiding the advance of neofascism and threats to democracy.

A indústria têxtil em Pernambuco: apogeu e crise (Século XX)
(2022-10-03) Melo, Carlos Mesquita Neiva de; Silva, Giselda Brito; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2327404253426354
The present work aims to show how textile industrialization, in the state of Pernambuco, had its peak and crisis in the 20th century. To support the studied industrial context, we started the work showing how industrialization occurred in Brazil in the 19th and 20th centuries, with emphasis on the textile industry, its difficulties, its contradictions and its evolution until reaching the last century. The textile industry in the state of Pernambuco is also shown in detail, from when it was an incipient industry, to the moment when it became the largest textile industrial park in Brazil and then to its decline in the 20th century, when the entire industry textile in its entirety, that is, since the planting of cotton, spinning and weaving enter into a fatal crisis. We show that what seemed to no longer exist reappears little by little in the state, in the last link of this industrial segment: clothing. The emergence of the Agreste Clothing Pole, which came up with such a strange name, Sulanca, which has no meaning for the clothing industry in a small, off-the-beaten-path town and which is rapidly growing, spreads to other cities in the Agreste region. and becomes one of the great poles of the Northeast region and the country.

This article addresses the conditions of women's participation in the colonial liberation struggles within FRELIMO (Mozambique Liberation Front), seeking to highlight their roles within the women's organizations led by the movement and the role of women in Mozambique's multicultural environment, which defined specific roles for women, between the years 1960 to 1970. Our goal is to understand some of the challenges faced by women in participating in the struggles and, at the same time, how they organized themselves to resist oppression and assert their rights in the world of labor and Mozambican society. To achieve this, we conducted a review and discussion of the literature dealing with the condition of Mozambican women in traditional culture and during the moments of the struggles, within the context of FRELIMO, to gain insights into their conditions within the movement and beyond.

“A mulher no século XX”: Plínio Salgado e a idealização feminina na ação integralista brasileira
(2024-02-28) Silva, Maria Eduarda Nascimento da; Silva, Giselda Brito; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2327404253426354; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1418185806600516
This historiographical work searches to understand the vision of the Integralist leader Plínio Salgado on the issue of women within the context of AIB based on the book “A Mulher no Século XX” (published in 1949) taking into account the female role in society in the 1930s, marked by the idea of women as mothers and wives, under the methodology of Discourse Analysis. Furthermore, we will seek to compare the idealization made in the 1949 book with the female presence in the founding document of the movement (Manifesto de Outubro de 1932) and the role of women in the Brazilian Integralist Action based on the journalistic analysis of the newspaper A Offensiva. We hope, from this research, to confirm the influence of the Catholic and conservative ideals, both in the precepts that Plínio Salgado uses as a basis when founding the Brazilian Integralist Movement, and in the actions of integralist women, also known as green blouses or “plinianas”.

Papel das mulheres na ação integralista (1932 – 1937)
(2018-08-17) Melo, Gildete Pereira Tavares de; Silva, Giselda Brito; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2327404253426354
In 1932 the Integralist movement appeared in Brazil, led by Plínio Salgado, which was based on three concepts: "God, Fatherland and Family". The proposal of the movement consisted of a society based on the integral State. The group had as its goal the conception that the State should not be only the Government, the Administration of a country, but, above all, a people united by the language and religion, so the nation and the State must integrate for the same intent, characterizing a nationalist movement, typical of the first half of the twentieth century. This paper aims to highlight the role of women in the movement, in the State of Pernambuco, between the years 1932 to 1937, and their assistentialists actions and on the education at Pernambuco. In our perspective, we pursed to show that integralist women had a kind of political and social action, within the objectives of the family and traditional movement. As a conservative and traditional movement, we understand that Integralism opened some space for women to act in the political life of the country, considering that in the 1930s women were still struggling for political participation. Thus, we can say that Plínio Salgado was ahead of its time, though these women went to the political life to defend the conservative ideals of their time. The Integralism enabled women to educate for political participation, when they acted in literacy for the people, obviously in defense of Plinio Salgado. Here we are not questioning their ideologies, but the space that the AIB opened for women in the political life of the 1930s, when they still could not vote.
