Another dimension associated with the commission of crimes and / or infractions is directed to the field of consumption or the search for access. Many studies point to this relationship mainly with regard to involvement with drug trafficking and / or theft of adolescents and young adults. In the country, crime and the response by the State of mass incarceration generates major impacts for society, Brazil currently occupies the fourth position in the incarceration ranking, with the mark of 338 prisoners per 100 thousand inhabitants (INFOPEN, 2019). In view of this situation, the tendency is for the effects to be greater in states where public policy related to combating crime and crime is inconsistently organized. In this sense, the objective of this article is to analyze the case of Pernambuco, through a government program, Pacto pela Vida, which has been in force in the state since 2007 and aims to constantly monitor and evaluate actions through crime rates, using as an indicator Intentional Lethal Violent Crimes. To understand the relationship between consumption and crime, the study has a qualitative character and sought to analyze the relationship between crime and consumption based on factors of criminalization among young people aged 18 to 30 years in the state. The data collection was done through exploratory, bibliographic and documentary research. The results point to the relationship between criminality, social inequality and expressions of consumer society manifested through unrestrained capitalism, reaffirming the essentiality of comprehensive public policies aimed at security in order to change this difficult reality. Item “A máquina de moer de gente”: os impactos da COVID-19 no sistema prisional de Pernambuco(2024-03-05) Silva, Felipe Henrique Oliveira da; Fernandes, Raquel de Aragão Uchôa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9733983138830524; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9760836624250143In Brazil, discussions around the issue of incarceration and the prison situation have been a constant target of debates on the agenda of human rights, public security, criminal policy and the allocation of the Brazilian state in the international context. With the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become necessary to take a closer and more vigilant look at the situation surrounding Brazilian prisons and especially Pernambuco's prisons. Over the course of 2019 and 2024, we focused our studies on the theme of Pernambuco's prisons. Investigating the trajectories of women who have left prison and the experiences of professionals who have worked in prisons. Faced with the emergence of the crisis that was on the horizon, our research into prisons took on a new debate, and from that context we focused our studies on the impacts of COVID-19 on the prison system in Pernambuco. This paper seeks to contribute to Consumer Science studies on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Pernambuco prison system, based on an articulated analysis of production and consumer relations, which form a dynamic and complex whole that relates to and transforms itself into social, economic, political and cultural phenomena. Based on the reports, bulletins and ordinances published by the National Penitentiary Department (DEPEN) and the National Council of Justice (CNJ), we sought to analyze the impacts of COVID-19 within the Pernambuco prison system; analyze the actions taken by the state to deal with the pandemic; and analyze the impacts on prisoners. Finally, our work seeks to be a contribution to the field of consumer studies aimed at studies of the prison system and subaltern trajectories.Item Modos de vida urbanos. reflexões sobre: consumo, território, memória e história no cotidiano subalterno das cidades (caso Lemos Torres)(2019) Pessoa Júnior, Antônio Ramos; Fernandes, Raquel de Aragão Uchôa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9733983138830524; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2398634034132541The present work was the result of two years of investigative research PIBIC, 2017 to 2019, developed in the community Lemos Torres, located in the North Zone of the Metropolitan Region of Recife, in the neighborhood of Casa Forte with central axis in the discussion of housing. This material discusses the problem of the right to housing in favor of the less favored class, aiming to analyze and identify the place and impact of consumption practices on the different ways of life in the daily life of urban subaltern classes. We identified the perceptions of these subjects about their daily lives in cities, their trajectory (with emphasis onthe “determinants” related to issues of class, ethnicity, gender and generation), as well as the right to housing. The research is characterized by being exploratory and qualitative, through observation and interviews conducted during visits to the community. The results point to the complexity of the urbanization process of cities, with very different interests and demands and interaction. The access to housing refers to a path of struggle and resistance of the subjects of this history that has been goingon for several decades and culminated with the current moment captured by these different interventions with these families related to housing policy in the city of Recife.
