The corn crop (Zea mays L.) is a plant that belongs to the grass family, or Poaceae, in which it is very sensitive to water deficiencies because it suffers conditions when it comes to climate change. The aim of this work is to study the characteristics of three hybrids, P3853PWU, P3707VYH and P3440, which are designed for the regional conditions of the northern forest zone of Pernambuco. The activities carried out included soil preparation, planting, foundation and top dressing fertilization, nutritional assessment, a survey of pests and diseases and invasive plants, so monitoring the demonstration field is extremely important to observe the development of the crop, as well as knowing how to overcome adversities in order to achieve a better quality product.

The culture of the okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) is an annual fruit, shrub, erect and stem semilenhoso, originating from the region of Ethiopia, in the horn of Africa. In Brazil, there are excellent climatic conditions for its cultivation, especially in the Northeast and Southeast regions, where it is a popular culture, mainly by small and medium producers, the objective of this work was to evaluate the behavior of the okra handled under different types of pruning training, and under different types of soil cover. The work was carried out in the didactic garden of the Department of Agronomy of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, from April 2018 to August 2018. The design was a randomized complete block design in the factorial scheme (3 x 4), with 4 replications. (plastic film, uncoated and mulch) and four types of driving pruning (plastic film, without cover and mulch), and the type of pruning (apical pruning, lateral pruning up to 20 cm, pruning lateral to 40 cm and without pruning). The number of fruits per plant, fruit yield, mean length (cm), mean diameter (cm) and mean fruit mass (g) were evaluated. The treatment of lateral pruning up to 40 cm over plastic covering effect was the one that presented the highest number of fruits per plant, resulting in the treatment that provided higher final yield. The mean length, mean diameter and mean weight of fruits did not differ between treatments, as these parameters are intrinsically related to the way the harvest is made, and the age of the fruit when harvested.

The Supervised Internship was carried out at the Carpina Sugarcane Experimental Station - EECAC - UFRPE located in Bairro Novo, Carpina-PE, in an agreement with the company Corteva Agriscience Brasil. During the internship, a 2 hectare corn and sorghum crop was monitored. Activities such as mechanized planting, foundation and cover fertilization, weed control such as sedge, pest control and occurrence of corn and sorghum growth were acquired. In this way, the monitoring of this demonstrative area was of paramount importance to know how bad weather occurs in the field and which can limit the production and development of the culture, as well as knowing how to overcome such adversities in order to reach a quality final product.
