Análise da recuperação de materiais recicláveis: uma aplicação do Propensity Score Matching na base de dados do SNIS

This undergraduate thesis aims to assess the impact of the implementation of Muni-cipal Integrated Solid Waste Management Plans (PMGIRS), as stipulated in Law No. 12,305/2010 - the National Solid Waste Policy. The central methodological approach utilizes the concept of Propensity Score Matching (PSM) to explore the causal effect of the presence of PMGIRS on the Recycling Material Recovery Rate. Additionally, the research incorporates the use of k-means clustering with the aim of better cha-racterizing and classifying the analyzed sample. This allows for the identification of natural data clusters and a deeper understanding of different potentials for solid was-te management in distinct municipalities. PSM is employed to create comparable groups of municipalities with and without PMGIRS, balancing observable characteris-tics and controlling for potential selection biases. The results obtained from this me-thodology will contribute to a well-founded and objective analysis of the impact of PMGIRS on municipal solid waste management. Combining PSM with clustering will enhance the analysis, enabling a more comprehensive characterization and precise classification of the studied sample.
Uma análise exploratória de dados espaciais para criminalidade violenta no estado de Pernambuco

This study aims to identify spatial patterns in violent crime rates in the state of Pernambuco, northeastern Brazil, based on the Economic Theory of Crime. Through the application of the rates of CVLI (Lethal and Intentional Violent Crime) and CVP (Violent Crime against Property), which represent the rates of homicide and robbery, in the period from 2014 to 2020, as variables of interest. For this proposal, the AEDE (Spatial Data Exploration Analysis) methodology was used, with the intention of testing spatial autocorrelation and identifying spatial clusters. With this, spatial clusters were identified, for both variables, in the mesoregions: Sertão, Agreste and RMR (Metropolitan Region of Recife). In addition, it was verified the rupture of the pattern of behavior in the year 2020 in different ways for each variable under study, as a possible effect of the covid-19 pandemic. It was also noted a possibility of future study regarding the increment of the income variable with the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) per capita of each municipality, by performing a spatial analysis with bivariate Local Moran's I, which resulted in low autocorrelation.
O consumo de jogos digitais no Brasil em 2021 e o uso de cloud gaming como uma resposta à pirataria

The main goal of this academic work was to analyze the possibility of using cloud gaming as an answer to piracy and as cheaper way to get into the digital games market. It is noteworthy that this analysis is limited to a group of Brazilian players who were divided between hardcore and casual gamers and to the year 2021. For that, it was necessary to analyze secondary data collected from Pesquisa Game Brasil 2021; information in academic works by authors such as Victor Barros and Ana Paula Martins; and, journalistic articles published by the specialized media, in order to know the gamers’ profile. Primary data were collected through a quantitative survey, conducting a brief online questionnaire in a group of 121 Brazilians using the tools available on Google Forms. Such analyzes served as a basis to obtain a hypothetical profile of consumer behavior. Regarding cloud gaming, 98,9% of players from both groups agreed that this is a more affordable way to consume electronic games, and also considered the possibility that consumers will spend less money on games thanks to this technology, however, 54,9% of players do not consider it as the ultimate solution against piracy, but it may have an impact on the consumption of illegal copies in the future.

This study aims to examine the impact of the implementation of Municipal Basic Sanitation Plans (PMSB) on performance indicators related to water supply, sewage collection, and solid waste management services. The analysis is based on a methodological approach that combines the use of clustering (k-means), Propensity Score Matching (PSM), and linear regression. The clustering technique using the k-means algorithm will be employed to better characterize and classify the analyzed sample. The use of PSM will serve as the tool to create comparable sets of municipalities, with and without PMSB, ensuring that their observable characteristics are balanced and controlling potential selection biases. Linear regression will be applied to assess the relationships between PMSB and the behavior of the Total Water Coverage Index, the Total Sewage Coverage Index, and the Regular Household Waste Collection Service Coverage Rate. The results derived from this study will provide a robust analysis of the impact of Municipal Basic Sanitation Plans (PMSB) on municipal-level basic sanitation management.

As awareness has grown in recent years about global warming and climate change, the world is heading for a trend where companies and investors are looking to positively impact the environment. A new vision has been created where reducing pollutant emissions or investing in clean or sustainable energy sources can generate profit and contribute to the level of economic growth.It is in this scenario that this work is based, where an analysis was made about how companies, investors and society are going, in order to achieve a better preservation of the environment, together with economic growth.It was observed that companies are adopting a new behavior of greater concern for the environment, where they are looking for new techniques that can contribute to reducing their costs or generating revenue by including sustainability in their business management.We werealso noted that it is beginning to form new investment opportunities in green technology. Companies that are investing in the creation of green technologies have great support from society and have huge growth potential within the market. Investors are looking for socially responsible companies to make their investments, which can be done through the stock exchange, green fund investments, SRI funds.Therefore wewill be shown in this paper how sustainability is here to stay. New investment opportunities, new sustainable techniques, new behaviorsof economic agents and how they are moving towards adding the value of sustainability in the economy.
