This workload is distributed between theoretical and practical activities in the area of concentration / performance and public health. Due to the pandemic caused by the Coronavirus 2 severe acute respiratory syndrome virus (SARSCOV-2 / COVID-19), which led to the temporary closure (March to November 2020) of the Veterinary Hospital (HOVET) of the Federal Rural Pernambuco University (UFRPE), there was a loss of workload in the concentration area. The area of activity / concentration of the aforementioned work was in Small Animal Surgical Clinic, and the activities were developed at HOVET at UFRPE in Recife, while activities in the public health area were developed in the municipality of Camaragibe. In order to complete this postgraduate course, it is necessary to prepare a residency conclusion work (TCR) that is presented in an expository manner for the evaluation of a board. The objective of the TCR was to describe the activities developed, both in the area of surgical clinic and in the area of public health, in addition to reporting a case experienced during the residency period. The case was of a two-year-old mixed breed (SRD) cat, attended at HOVET / UFRPE, presenting a symptomatic picture of constipation and megacolon, which was diagnosed as a megacolon secondary to the narrowing of the pelvic canal, caused by vicious consolidation fracture in acetabulum. The surgical treatment instituted was hemipelvectomy, to correct the narrowing, and colotomy to remove fecaloma. In conclusion, food management is of paramount importance in conservative and post-surgical treatments of disorders of the digestive system. We conclude that the completion of the postgraduate program in the residency program in the Professional Health Area in Veterinary Medicine, presented in the form of lato sensu teaching, in-service training, provides the veterinarian with training, experience and theoretical confidence and, mainly, practice in the area. concentration in which the resident intends to act in his career.Item Intussuscepção enterocólica dupla em cadela (Canis familiaris): relato de caso(2023-02-28) Vidal, Livia Oliveira; Cavalcanti, Grazielle Anahy de Sousa Aleixo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3165940085830406; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1273250796746977The Multiprofessional Residencies (MR) in Health allow the veterinarian to experience the routine of the Unified Health System, thus contributing to the training of health professionals and collaborating with their insertion in the job market. The present work aims to report the experience within the Multiprofessional Residency Program in Health of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE) with specialization in Small Animal Surgery held at the University Veterinary Hospital of this same institution. It also aims to report a double enterocolic intussusception in a bitch (Canis familiaris).Item Lipidose hepática em felinos – revisão de literatura(2018-08-17) Berlando, Brenda Braga; Cavalcanti, Grazielle Anahy de Sousa Aleixo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3165940085830406Item Mandibulectomia para exérese de neoplasia em cavidade oral em Phyton morulus bivittatus - Relato de caso(2021-12-06) Cunha, Carlos Filipe dos Santos; Cavalcanti, Grazielle Anahy de Sousa Aleixo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3165940085830406; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2715177140931064The MSI took place between August 30th and November 17th, 2021 in the surgical sector of Animalis – Surgery and Veterinary Clinic- and Ortovet -Veterinary Orthopedic Center- where a total of 87 patients with their various ailments were followed up. Serving the internship in different places and sectors allowed a unique and enriching experience due to the professional knowledge of the team in the areas of general, reconstructive and orthopedic surgery. During this period, a case of neoplasm in the oral cavity of Python Molurus Bivittatus was treated and it is described in this review. The male snake, weighing 29.950kg, was referred for care presenting signs of edema in the rostral region, dysphagia, pain, as well as a structure of firm consistency near the mandible that protruded ventrally to the region. During the surgical procedure, the presence of bone involvement was confirmed, but taking into account its biology and food biomechanics, only the soft tissue tumor was removed, that is, mandibulectomy was not chosen. Choosing a technique that preserves the mandibular structure allowed a significant improvement in the clinical condition of the patient, since, after a few weeks of postoperative and wound healing, the animal no longer needed analgesics to eat, returning to its normal natural behavior and quality of life. It is concluded that despite the evolution of Veterinary Medicine, when it comes to oncology in reptiles, further studies related to the use of auxiliary therapy, such as chemotherapy are necessary. Therefore, surgery is currently the best treatment option for this condition.Item Mandibulectomia parcial para exérese de neurofibrossarcoma em cão - Relato de caso(2021-12-06) Gouveia, Igor Soares; Cavalcanti, Grazielle Anahy de Sousa Aleixo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3165940085830406; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8150604312901033The Mandatory Supervised Internship (referred as ESO in Portuguese) is referent to the last term of the Veterinary Medicine degree at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, where the student will have 420 hours of extracurricular activities and will develop a final paper. The ESO was carried out in two different clinics. The first in the Animalis surgery sector – Surgery and Veterinary Clinic, and the second in the Oncology Surgery sector of CORe – Veterinary Oncology, both located in Recife municipality, Pernambuco state, Brazil. Several species of domestic and wild vertebrates were treated during the internship experience, adding up to 58 patients. During the internship at CORe, we recorded and avaluated a study case of oral neurofibrosarcoma in a dog. Neurofibrosarcoma or malignant tumor of the peripheral nerve sheath is a highly infiltrative neoplasm that commonly affects the brachial and lumbosacral plexus, nerve roots and, sometimes, the cranial nerves which is rarely described in Veterinary Medicine. The treatment indicated for malignant oral neoplasms is the surgical excision, which may be just a palliative procedure. This study aimed to report the case of an 11.7 years-old German Shepherd dog, weighing 35 kg, that had a multilobed nodule growing in the left mandible. This nodule showed a shatterable aspect, histopathological grade II soft tissue sarcoma and immunohistochemical profile that suggested neurofibrosarcoma - malignant tumor of the peripheral nerve sheath. Was performed a partial mandibulectomy procedure with preservation of the temporomandibular joint as the healing method for this type of neoplasia, along with a left mandibular lymphadenectomy. The histopathological examination conducted after surgical removal concluded that the nodule was a non-metastatic lymph node with free physical margins. Post-surgical complications were lateral lingual projection and difficulty in feeding itself. After the recovering interval the patient should be referred to chemotherapy.Item Ovariohisterectomia no tratamento de piometra em gata - Relato de caso(2021-07-15) Aragão, Sanly Haiana Freitas; Cavalcanti, Grazielle Anahy de Sousa Aleixo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3165940085830406; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7086931590486716The compulsory supervised internship (CSI) is developed in the last period of the Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine and aims to bring the student closer to practice, combining the theory learned in the classroom with the internship in the area of interest, as well as the conclusion of the undergraduate course. The ESO was carried out at UFRPE's University Veterinary Hospital (HVU), in the area of Veterinary Surgical Clinic, from October 2, 2023 to January 19, 2024, with a total workload of 420 hours. The area chosen enabled me to learn about surgical techniques, preoperative assessments and care after surgery in small animals, adding to my knowledge of the broad field of Surgical Clinic. This report describes the activities carried out during the internship and the case report of a three-month-old female canine patient, who underwent surgery to section the ligamentum arteriosum and was diagnosed with Persistent Right Aortic Arch Disease (PAAD). PAAD is characterized by the position of the aorta to the right, causing the ligamentum arteriosum to cause extraluminal compression of structures such as the esophagus and trachea, thus resulting in a secondary megaesophagus, the presence of symptoms usually appears after weaning, with the introduction of solid food, there is postprandial regurgitation. From the clinical suspicion to the diagnosis, it is necessary to associate imaging tests. A contrast study of the esophagus helps with clinical confirmation, as well as other imaging tests. Corrective surgery is the most recommended treatment for persistence of the 4th right aortic arch.Item Relatório de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório (ESO) realizado no Centro de Triagem e Reabilitação de Animais Silvestres (CETRAS TANGARA) e no Hospital Veterinário Universitário da UFRPE, Recife - PE. Prostatectomia total para exérese de adenocarcinoma em cão - Relato de caso(2020-10-15) Oliveira, Maria Clara Cunha Paranhos de; Cavalcanti, Grazielle Anahy de Sousa Aleixo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3165940085830406; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9929829387508607The Compulsory Supervised Internship (ESO), carried out to complete the Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine, was developed at the PetDream Veterinary Hospital, in the Veterinary Surgical Clinic department, under the guidance of Dr. Grazielle Anahy de Sousa Aleixo and supervision of the surgeon Dr. Edson Vilela de Melo Filho, totaling a workload of 420 hours. This report aims to explain the activities carried out during the internship, emphasizing the importance of the routine in which the student, and future veterinarian, will witness in his profession. Among the surgical procedures followed, a patient who underwent total prostatectomy was selected for this monograph. The animal was a 10-year-old neutered canine, whose main clinical sign was polyuria and urinary incontinence. After carrying out complementary exams, the cytology being suggestive of prostatic adenocarcinoma, and the cancer staging being negative for signs of metastasis, the patient was referred for surgery, in order to perform total prostatectomy for excision of the nodule. The surgical procedure used proved to be effective, since it was possible to perform all nodular resection and there were few post-surgical complications, thus guaranteeing the animal's quality of life. The realization of the ESO made it possible to put into practice the theoretical learning taught during graduation, contributing significantly to the professional development and training the future Veterinarian for the job market, being, therefore, a step of fundamental importance for the conclusion of the Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine.Item Relatório do Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório (ESO), realizado no Hospital Veterinário da UFRPE/Sede e com um médico veterinário volante atuante no município de Recife - PE, Brasil: cistopexia em cadela com cistocele após correção cirúrgica de prolapso uterino(2020-11-06) Silva, Josione Belarmino da; Cavalcanti, Grazielle Anahy de Sousa Aleixo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3165940085830406; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5060236019376547Item Ressecção de metástase em parede abdominal e ureter direito de cadela com tumor de mama - Relato de caso(2024-03-01) Mendonça, Hugo Leite Serrano de; Cavalcanti, Grazielle Anahy de Sousa Aleixo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3165940085830406; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4958811888680903“Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório” (ESO) — “Mandatory Supervised Internship” — is the course for the of the final semester of the undergraduate Veterinary Medicine program at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFRPE), with a total workload of 420 hours. In all, 75 patients were followed up with varied clinical conditions. This allowed contact with different therapeutic conduct and surgical procedures that provide an extremely enriching experience. During the internship period, a case of ureteral obstruction was followed, which was reported in this paper. Urolites can be treated through clinical management (using medication and/or nutritional management) and surgical removal (a more invasive procedure). Urolithiasis can be treated through clinical management (using medication and/or nutritional management) and surgical removal (a more invasive procedure). Drug treatment does not always prove to be effective and may aggravate the patient's condition. Therefore, the assessment and surgical indication can be carried out as soon as possible. The present work had the objective to report the case of a male Yorkshire Terrier breed, 6 years old, castrated, weighing 2.9 kg, presenting signs of hydronephrosis, ureteral urolithiasis, vesical urolithiasis, vomiting, azotemia, and suspicion of infection of the urinary tract (UTI). The patient with left ureteral obstruction due to ureterolithiasis underwent ureterotomy and insertion of a double-j catheter for clearance. The use of the double-j catheter allowed the urinary flow through the left ureter without obstruction stenosis. The quantitative analysis of the urolith showed ammonium urate. The patient is being followed up for late observation of the results, especially the recovery of renal function. The success of this procedure demonstrates the effectiveness of the double-j catheter in case of ureteral obstruction.Item Uso da dopamina em cão com neoplasia hepática – relato de caso(2018-08-17) Lima, Mariana Pontes Ferreira de; Cavalcanti, Grazielle Anahy de Sousa Aleixo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3165940085830406; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9656189031483559Item Uso da terapia com ondas de choque e do laser de alta potência no tratamento de entesopatia do ligamento suspensor do boleto e sesamoidite proximal em equino da raça Puro Sangue Inglês - Relato de caso(2021-07-13) Dias, Tatiana Delecave; Cavalcanti, Grazielle Anahy de Sousa Aleixo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3165940085830406; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6186420934510214The Compulsory Supervised Internship (CSI) is carried out in the 11º semester as a requirement to complete the Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine.
